Last Island Beach access?

Getting a new boat and haven't fished the island since pre-2008. Anyone know of any good spots to get on the beach? Is California canal still navigable? Sat images show the beach has backed up a good bit just trying to get a game plan going. Planning on hitting some old gps coordinates and if all else fails put the kids on the beach and go look for cool dead shite washed up
Hopefully bringing home a World Cat 266 center console this weekend.

I've seem them on West Tim. the last couple of summers, usually someone stays in the boat fishing and a group goes to shore. This was on the south side though, not sure about the north as far as coves.

California Canal (I call it Trinity bayou) on Last isle is navigable, but stay on plane and in the dead center.
there is a red buoy on the east side of the cut and some poles marking the channel. Ride all the way to the dead end and beach your boat on the sand. Walk across to the beach.
If you've never been back there, I'd make my first attempt at high tide, although some pretty big houseboats get in there somehow.

Yep, that sounds dangerous

Been going to last island since i was a kid but haven't been to the beach in 6+ years. I think i will idle in though Motorboat Gets shallower than 2ft and i will rethink the plan. Your idea sounds like a good way to get high and dry and tear up the lower units. Last time i went in there you could dock at the bulkhead past the slip with the statue but that looks like it has all filled in.

I've seen a few people run up on sand bars. If you don't know the area go with someone who does until you are comfortable running it.
