Home alarms and monitoring?

I am currently using Certified Alarms and only have basic cellular monitoring. I am paying $40 per month for this service. I feel like $40 is expensive for just basic cellular monitoring. How does this compare to the competition? What are some of the other good service providers in the BR area?

$40 is robbery. I've heard good things about Simply Safe.

I have Custom Security with two key pads and the Total Connect so I can control it remotely for $36/month. That's on the cellular monitoring.
