According to a new Sunday Times report by Toby Harden, "Pentagon sources said Foley and the others might well have been rescued but Obama, concerned about the ramifications of US troops being killed or captured in Syria, took too long to authorise the mission."

quote:

Anthony Shaffer, a former lieutenant-colonel in US military intelligence who worked on covert operations, said: “I’m told it was almost a 30-day delay from when they said they wanted to go to when he finally gave the green light. They were ready to go in June to grab the guy [Foley] and they weren’t permitted.”

Sad excuse for leadership when it's all about the Narcissist in Chiefs image.

But he was courageous enough to send Navy SEALs to kill OBL in Pock-e-ston. He even may or may not have watched it all unfold on teevee.

Maybe MC-Mohammad will send Foley's head to Obama to use as a cover for his Big Bertha.

Everything's a scandal with the likes if you. If somebody had been killed trying the rescue he wouldn't have been worth it, of course.

While it sucks if true, hindsight is 20/20 and the only reason it became an issue is how public and gruesome his death was.

frick, can't believe I agree with Rex

The main stream media has been propping this guy up since 2007, their failure to simply report his incompetence is a great portion of the issue.

I despise Obama, but I would absolutely hate to be in his position right now. I can't hold this failed rescue attempt against him.

He is doing everything that he ran against. It has to be a hard decision to risk the lives of soldiers on a rescue mission that may or may not have been successful. Hindsight is always 20/20. Maybe he should listen to his advisors more, idk. I really can't judge him for this.

I hate that the journalist was beheaded. It is sickening. Again, I would hate to be in Obama's position right now.

Now that ISIS has captured another Syrian army base, I would carpet bomb the shite out if them. But I'm a female and I'm irrational. That's why I'm not president, nor would I ever want to be.

He was worried about being "Carterized." He's already surpassed it by far regardless of making a tough decision in less than a month. He's a joke.

I apologize for White House Jesus not being able to make a decision. White House Jesus has the Midas touch. Everything he touches turns to shite.

If you haven't noticed, every scandal has fizzled. Not because they aren't scandals, but because republicans are pussies and cower to mainstream media opposition

You think Obama watched that beheading video? I seriously doubt it; might burn his conscience and add strokes to his game.

Two years from now...this place is going to be so hungry for a real leader, I think Hitler could get elected.

I am fine with doing the mission, I am fine with them not doing the mission. What I don't like is the indecisiveness to decide if he should go and then risk the SF life's for nothing. If he waited to decide for political reasons, then he is a fricking coward...

I have no qualms about a failed rescue attempt one month ago. The guy was captive for two years. It's evident that intelligence came forth with proof that they were about to kill him and that the JV team was now selected first round in the major league draft. I'm more concerned about the lack of care the last two years to allow this regime to gain their current status and we haven't done anything about it.

It really doesn't concern me that an American was abducted in a foreign land. That's a risk one takes when they go to report/ sight see/ etc. in an enemy state. I have no desire to leave the country in present day simply because I have zero faith in our government getting me back if I'm held against my will. The same goes for illegals here, in many respects. It's just a matter of time until we see the Marine being held in Mexico killed and the government will open an investigation as to why. Wagging the dog.
