"Slap ya mama" is far from a Coonass specific saying. It's common lots of places.

So let me get this straight...this isn't offensive:

...but this is:

Someone please explain this one to me.

The NFL is also looking into expanding outside the US. THESE sponsors would probably not be allowed.

Answers.com says:
quote:

Your Mama can irritate the dickens out of you. But as long as she's feeding you that good food that only Mama can fix, you wouldn't slap her. Find a suitable replacement, and let the Mama slappin' begin! The origin of this phrase traces its roots to the southern states of the U.S. When first coined it meant someone had just tasted something so delectible it caused them to be angry towards their mother for never creating food equally as tasty... angry enough to slap her.

Urban dictionay:
quote:

When you try some new food that tastes so delicious it makes you wonder "why can't my mom cook this well?". This thought makes you so angry that you feel like slapping your mom for feeding you mediocre food.

Of course, this is usually meant as a joke or figure of speech. Most people love their mothers and would never do such a thing.

You can see why people misunderstand.

Well, my apologies but it is actually TD that is stupid. It sensors the proper spelling of the word which uses an "a" not an "e".... There is absolutely nothing racist about that word.

OK, I can accept that. But I still think is a lousy decision to name your product "Slap ya Mama" if you want to market to regions other than Cajun country.

The name is the reason the product is as popular as it is

They've gotten some mileage out of the name, but it really is a great product. I would be more likely to buy it if it had another name. My 89 year-old mother hates the name and I wouldn't want her to see it in my kitchen.

I fully expect the NFL to do away with any and all alcohol adverstising. They are obviously promoting drunk driving and vehicular manslaughter, which a few players every year seem to have a problem with. Wait....they wont do that. What the frick am I thinking? The NFL gets MONEY from alcohol companies. They wouldnt want to take money out of their own pockets now would they? This Slap Ya Mama fiasco is complete horseshite. This country is truly amazing sometimes in the complete hypocrisy, ignorance, and stupidity it constantly displays. It's no wonder we are the laughing stock of the world.

Why is that? That makes no sense.
