question about Dish Network problems

Lightning hit my stuff Monday night and knocked out a ton of my electronics, my satellite was unaffected and has worked all week. Comcast came by Friday to check out their stuff outside the house and they weren't grounded to anything. He cut my ground off the dish ground block saying that there were two and that one was good enough.
Well I flipped the wrong breaker doing some work on my front porch switch Friday night and flipped the satellite on, when I flipped it back I kept getting a complete signal loss. I replaced the LNB with an old one I had laying around that I know was good and the satellite worked for a few hours and when I got home it was back to complete loss again. I ran another ground to the dish and voila, started working again.
Does dish have to be grounded to a ground rod or is this just dumb luck that it is working again?
