Maureed Dowd Rips Obama after he addressed Foley's beheading, then went golfing

The Golf Address
AUG. 23, 2014
by Maureen Dowd
FORE! Score? And seven trillion rounds ago, our forecaddies brought forth on this continent a new playground, conceived by Robert Trent Jones, and dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal when it comes to spending as much time on the links as possible — even when it seems totally inappropriate, like moments after making a solemn statement condemning the grisly murder of a 40-year-old American journalist beheaded by ISIL.
I know reporters didn’t get a chance to ask questions, but I had to bounce. I had a 1 p.m. tee time at Vineyard Golf Club with Alonzo Mourning and a part-owner of the Boston Celtics. Hillary and I agreed when we partied with Vernon Jordan up here, hanging out with celebrities and rich folks is fun.
Now we are engaged in a great civil divide in Ferguson, which does not even have a golf course, and that’s why I had a “logistical” issue with going there. We are testing whether that community, or any community so conceived and so dedicated, can long endure when the nation’s leader wants nothing more than to sink a birdie putt.
We are met on a great field of that battle, not Augusta, not Pebble Beach, not Bethpage Black, not Burning Tree, but Farm Neck Golf Club in Martha’s Vineyard, which we can’t get enough of . . .
============
It is rather for us to be here dedicated to the great task remaining before us of getting rid of our slice on the public’s dime — that from this honored green we take increased devotion to that cause for which Bobby Jones, Jack Nicklaus, Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy gave their last full measure of devotion — and divots.
We here highly resolve that these golfing greats shall not have competed in vain, especially poor Tiger, and that this nation, under par, shall have a new birth of freedom to play the game that I have become unnaturally obsessed with, and that golf of the people, by the people, for the people shall not perish from the earth.
So help me Golf.

I don't condemn the guy for playing golf...but my god his timing has been horrendous on many occassions

I'm shocked that came from her.

I do condemn him for playing THAT much of it. Golf's an incredibly time-consuming game and he's been playing it all the time lately and has amassed 185 rounds during his presidency. That's 925 hours at least. That's irresponsible.

If this one particular time was unusual and just an aberration, he could be excused. But the fact is, it's always been about him throughout his presidency. It's gotten to the point where it seems he doesn't want to be bothered by the job or it's responsibilities. I simply wished he had decided to not run for reelection if he no longer wants to do the job.

She's been worshipping him since 2007, so forgive me for not being impressed that she's just started figuring him out over the past few months.

The left thinks that something isn't truly understood or recognizable until they say it is. Us commoners must wait until this realization comes to them and then, and only then, they impart it to those of us with lesser understanding.

What does a picture of Bush playing golf have to do with this thread ?
Posted on 8/24/14 at 7:45 am to NC_Tigah
She would vote for him again for a 3rd term if she could.

W quit playing golf out of respect for the families of servicemen and women.
Obama has no class. He's the scum of the earth, and has no Nitro.
What a huge vagina in mom jeans.

Dowd has blood on her hands for assisting his 2012 re-election process. I'm glad they are all starting to figure the empty suit out, but it's a little too late for "I told you so's".
2016 can't get here quick enough. I just hope there's a country left for someone to change.

So prior to August 19th, 2003- by his own admission - BUsh was disrespectful of the troops. Right?

I quoted this because I don't think you realize it supports the point everyone else in this thread is making. When major events happen, the President of the US shouldn't be playing golf.

Bush STOPPED golfing.
When even a *European* head of state cuts his vacation short so he can be in his equivalent of the situation room, it's time to put down the clubs and get serious.
Obama obviously doesn't want to be president. The rumors that he didn't want to run again but felt he had to because of the popular conception that only one term means failure seem to have been true.
