Ever been on vacation when a hurricane hit?

You mean you were away and a storm hit your home or hit where you were on vacation?

not me, but had a friend visit from tampa when I was in br during august 2005. she ended up having to drive to houston to get back since her flight was canceled out of msy

Went down to Boca when Hurricane Isaac passed by, shut the hotel down. Mostly lots of wind and rain but def no outdoor activities. We were there with three other couples who love to drink, bar tab was ridiculous. Then one couple from NOLA got stuck there for about 4 extra days, not cheap.

Not quiet the same but left Miami as a TS was coming. Had to fly out in it. Surprisingly was one of the smoothest flights I have ever had.

When I was a snot nosed kid, my family went to spend a week at my uncle's camp on Bay St. Louis.
3 days in Hurricane Camile was just off the coast. We found a pay phone at a store, called my uncle who was leaving to come help batten down the camp.
As we started doing what we could a friend of my uncle showed up to inform us that my uncle had a stroke while driving and crashed on the way to met us. He was paralyzed for the rest of his life.
We did what we could. But it didn't matter.
We returned a week later and could find nothing left of his camp.

I was at a work conference in Miami and they ended it a day early because a storm named Katrina was heading for Florida--so I flew home to New Orleans!!!

I was trapped in NOLA when Hurricane Francis hit Florida. I had a difficult time getting home.

I was in San Destin on vacation and had to evacuate to red cross center from my condo
