It's my good buddy's bday today. He drinks scotch. I am not a scotch drinker but he bought me a glenlivet 16 year old nadurra. According to google it prolly cost anywhere from $60-90. What's a good bottle of scotch priced in the range? Thinking I probably shouldn't regift the glenvilet back to the same person that gave it to me.

Hard to beat Glenlivet.

Single Malt is the only way to go.

Glenfiddich 15 yr is the best bang for your buck, IMO. Always go for a single barrel scotch as well. Johnnie walker is a blended scotch, but still good. My groomsmen and I passed around a bottle of Johnnie blue the night before my wedding and it was fantastic, but I'd still prefer a single barrel over blended.

Finnlagan Old Reserve is the best scotch out there in that range

There's really no cheap Single Malt Scotch. It's all good.

J&B,Dewer's,and the rest are blended Scotch Whiskeys.

Glenlivet is a little more expensive than Glenfiddich, but both are very good.

Look at the Single Malt Scotches.I'm not sure what different selections there are but they'll all be $$$$ and he'll like it.

Macallan and Glenfidditch are great if you don't want to do Glenlivet.

Found a nice deal on a combo pack of Johnnie Walker here. The 4 together add up to a regular bottle. Blue is fantastic, haven't tried Platinum.

Macallen 12 and 18 are great. Oban 14 is a favorite of mine. I like highland scotch though. It really depends what he likes. I hate islays but some love them.

The Balviene makes a bunch in that range - try the 17 year old double wood (or the 12), the Caribbean Cask is fantastic as well (my personal recommendation). Some like the 15 but I am not a huge fan. If you know he likes heavily peated scotches, go with Lagavulin 16 or maybe a Laphroig quarter cask.

All single malt scotch is good.

High priced scotch is mostly a marketing gimmick. If you don't drink it a lot you won't tell the difference anyway.
