I have a volvo xc90, I get a message SRS Airbag service urgent, well about an hour later, my whole dash goes out (lights, speed odometer, gas Guage)

Anyone have any idea what this could be and is it safe to drive until Monday?

It'll be fine. Bring your checkbook.

Disconnect and reconnect battery.

Year/mileage?

Google is your friend.

OK, do what I said, but that's a 10% shot.

It honestly sounds battery/alternator related.

After researching, it looks to be the DIM. My dash did come back this morning but the error message was still there.

I'm not a Volvo mechanic, but that's a pretty expensive guess.

If you've confirmed all your voltages are good ( battery, alt output) that could be the issue.

Marque-specific forums are gold for stuff like this.

please tell us this is your wife's car, or leave your man car at the counter as you're leaving

It's my wife's car but it's a great vehicle for kids. I'm more about functionality than looks now.

I own the same year and model and had the same issue. If you do a google search you will see it's a common problem. Ours progressed to the point where without warning everything would shut down. Brakes, steering, etc. Not a battery or alternator issue. Some had issues with CEM. Ours was a short, small wire behind dash. Took about $4000 to find. Keep some fuses in the car in case you get stranded.

Also make sure you keep the drains clear inside your sun roof . Lots of youtube clips about, or your driver side floor will flood. Found that out the hard way.
