Hey Ace have you seen this?

This looks like it could well be incredible.

Prelude to Axanar

Just watched it. I dig it. What is it though. Is this a movie? Or like a YouTube original?

It appears that it will be released online after they finish it. Looks like a Star Trek Fan film with a budget and real actors. The prelude they released was more to show what they could do if people donated to them. They intend to release the "movie" as a 90 minute feature.

Looks damn amazing to me so I tossed them some money on kickstarter.

Star Trek Axanar kickstarter.

I'll throw in a bit. I'm a nerd under this thick ruggedly handsome skin so I really hope it works out.

Now I have. Certainly looks better than any official product since First Contact. I enjoyed the non-canon "Of Gods and Men" of course, but this looks to be a significant upgrade.

A little hokey on having Axanar all line up as the first battle between D-7s and Constitutions, but Axanar is a canon battle and I've always been intrigued by Garth (the pre-Kirk).

Great to see J.G. Hertzler working - a great Star Trek alum.

And it proves my point that Hollywood could make an authentic Star Trek product - if anybody gave enough of a $hit to do so. They're doing this literally on a shoestring.

yup. It's what caught my attention.

Looking forward to seeing how they move this forward.

I get the idea that isn't the case...rather the Constitutions shipyards are the bait.

That's even sillier - ships were being built on and in orbit of Earth well into the TNG/DS9/VOY era.

However, I'm not quibbling over those minor segments of non-canon material, anyway - overall, this looks good and true to the good things about Star Trek. Again, particularly intrigued by Garth.

You thought that cornball, indulgent bullshite was the last good one? There's been plenty of good Star Trekkin since then.

Not really, but then again that's an argument for another thread.

I thought it was great. Very reverent of Star Trek lore and some great cameos of actors seen in trek before. I recognize the female Captain , Sonya I believe, from a Voyager episode involving Species 8472. I remembered because she has great thighs and great eyes. I want to see it now.

Kate Vernon - yeah - she played the gal Species 8472 in "In the Flesh" in Voyager's 5th season.

No $hit - IRL she is the daughter of John Vernon - Dean Wormer from Animal House.
