Booger says

Ole Miss
Miss St
Bama
Florida
Auburn

Says Mizzou is 6.

How far down is LSU's DLine?

I think most would have out DL in the middle of the pack, but you know how that goes. Top 5 by seasons end.

I think thats fair right now because its completely unknown.

However, it will be top 5 mid year. I have no doubt.

i would put us between 7 and 9

its also just a preseason ranking, after the season i think we'll be a top 5 team at that position, not because our d-line is THAT great but they will get a tremendous amount of help via our secondary

Why would they not? They have great talent and great coaching. They are backed up by an impressive set of LBs and a dominating Secondary that will cause the opposing QB to hold the ball longer than he would like.

If these guys are aggressive and can fill the gaps, they are going to be great.

I see no reason why LSU can't have a top 3 DLine based on recruiting, coaching, and the rest of the defense. They are young, but the 2011 LSU defense was just a bunch of Sophomores.

LSU's DLine will be fine. The worst DLine I've seen at LSU over the past decade was last year with Anthony Johnson doing basically nothing all season. Ego was only a little better. And, they both go pro because they decided to do that when they left high school.

We will be better than last year. Our DE's will do a great job. We are really talking about DT and with the young talent we have there, we will find guys to step up.

We will be fine.

I agree. This DL is "unknown" to quote Miles about the team in general, but there is a ton of talent there, and we have the best DC in the conference. It will be better than middle of the pack for sure.

I actually agree, bbap. We may have a ton of DT's on the roster but none of them are really proven. I like our DEs, but I'm afraid teams are going to be able to run decently on us, creating more men in the box and man to man coverage...thankfully our DBs are possibly the strongest part of the team behind the OL.

We will be top 5. Our talent is top 3 IMO. Herron, Gilmore, Bain, etc.

We have more depth that will play this year as well. Last year our starters were flat over worked.

I think we do not know the answer to that yet. Granted, we don't know that about the offensive line yet either, as ne'er a snap been hiked. We THINK we know about this O line, but we really don't. Yet.

Same goes for the defensive front. Except we've got even less on which to go.

Ehhh

4/5 started last year and the others are very highly touted and reporting to be playing very well. Add that to an upgrade of their coach.

I think we know we know we've got a stout OL.

I believe that Booger is correct however it's such a strange sounding statement to make. We're spoiled by our typical DLine play I suppose.

Same here. I'm not as high on Danielle Hunter as others on this board. The potential is definitely there though.

Damn. Even LSU fans are going to be surprised at how good this DL turns out. It's going to be a fun season.

Honestly, I think we'll be very happy with our starting DT's by the end of the season. LaCouture and Herron could anchor our line for the next couple seasons IMO.

I'm with you. He was a liability against the run last year and now he's being counted on to anchor the line.

All unknown except rasco, who hopefully is very improved. I think Herron will come out banging, and Hunters upside may have finally caught up.
