Rory vs. Rickie: the new Tiger vs. Phil

Do you agree?
I think it's funny that Rory has been rolling with Tiger lately because it is widely known that Phil is like a big brother to Fowler. The results so far are very comparable as well. Rory has the majors, and Ricky is really good at finishing close.

I like both golfers. Anytime you have a rivalry or a perceived rivalry in a sport, it's always a good thing and fun to watch. Even more so when those players are in a battle for a win. Tiger and Phil weren't (from my memory) never in heated battles for wins. One was always winning, and Phil, well heftly won a few times.

I do agree.
And I also predict this will turn into an IM thread by page 2

It's a little early for the Tiger Phil comparison but we can all hope. They defiantly have the potential. I just hope Rickie can gain a little ground on Rory. Hope they go head-to-head in the Rider Cup.

Phils majors came late, but he has 5. And he's racked up a shite-ton of professional wins along the way. Neither Rory nor Rickie have earned the right to the comparison at this point.

Rickie is more Sergio at this point.
Speith could begin to rival Rory as well.

Rory and Rickie are friends. Phil and Tiger do not like each other.
side note: I dont know how he did it, but Fowler went from one of my most hated golfers to the guy i pull for while Tiger is out of it.

Fowler has one victory on tour. He looked MUCH better this year, but he needs to close out a few events on Sunday...

I disagree. I would say Speith is more Sergio at this point.
Rickie even had the multitude of runner-up finishes to compare with Phil

This, but it is hard to say though because Phil was on tour for 9 years before Tiger came around.
Rickie has 1 win in his first 127 tournaments. Phil had 10 wins in that same span to start his career.
In short... Rickie isn't close to the same level Phil was at this point in his career.

Totally agree. Hope he burns it up at the Ryder cup and carries that momentum into next season. Some head to head duels with Rory in the future would be awesome.

I will actually be shocked if they arent paired together in the singles matches
Ricky is very comfortable playing with Rory

Not even close right now. Rory is close to where Tiger was bit Rickie is no where near where Phil was. Remember Phil won a pga event as an am.

Rickie is more Sergio. Speith is more Furyk just playin solid. Maybe Stricker.
