Most of the higher ups in the drug game of Baltimore were pretty like able tbh, Marlo sucked though.

To me Prop Joe and Avon were awesome, I rooted for their success.
I'll put Stringer Bell and Chris Bartlow a notch beneath those two, I liked them sometimes, disliked them sometimes

Marlo is at the bottom, dude sucked, he wasn't interesting and he was a dickhead.
And he killed prop Joe

Marlo didn't win shite, there's no way he was staying on top for more than another year or so. Snoop is dead and Chris in jail for life, you saw how fast Avon fell when he lost his muscle

Plus he's got a dangerous enemy in Michael

Your inclusion of Bartlow is weird. He was an enforcer, not a boss.

1. Prop Joe - it was always business for him.
2. Stringer - the Robert's rules of order was awesome.
3. Marlo - Ruthless b/c he let Bartlow do his thing.
4. Avon

Yea well I was trying to think of someone to compare Stringer to. Chris was definitely Marlo's second in command, so I felt like it made sense to compare him to Stringer

Is you takin' notes... On a mutha frickin criminal conspiracy?

Yeah I think Marlo left the party and went to the corner because that was his element. He couldn't leave the street, he knew what Stringer didn't.

Marlo is perfect. He is enigmatic. He is iconoclastic. He has no respect for the previous generation or the way things are “supposed to be done." He is the ultimate utilitarian -- he only keeps you around as long as you are useful. Look at how he handled Mike and the chick he (Marlo) was having sex with. The drug game is not a means to a greater end for him. He is not String. The drug game is a mean to satisfy his voracious appetite for power. He is embodiment of the degeneration of Baltimore, relishing in his own corruption and using it to fuel itself.

Marlo is awesome.

Meh, if the Barksdale's don't get taken down by the police Marlo never amounts to more than running a handful of corners

Marlo was cold blooded but I didn't care for him. Of all of the villains I liked Stringer the best, and Bodie even though he was a bitch for turning on Wallace. Brother Mouzone is up there too.

You're way off base. Marlo and his crew would have committed genocide on the Barksdale organization. They were expanding more and more every day, even flipping people that had been with the Barksdales forever (see Bodie). Marlo was ruthless. He had no code. He had no limits. It was a Cold War, the only difference was Marlo was ready and just waiting on the opportune time to hit the button to go nuclear. He had nothing to lose but his name, and the only way he could lose that was to either 1) lose outright or even worse, 2) not fight. He had no choice. String had something to lose. Who do you fear more in that scenario?

Jesus, all of this. Marlo was the epitome of power-hungry, and would do anything do make sure he had the power. I mean shite, dude was OUT of the shite and had it completely made...signing big checks and cashing even bigger ones, but the only thing he cared about was "his name." That's why he left the big wig party and went back to the corner to shout his name out and try to get respect again. Money and drugs didn't mean shite to him, and that's what made him awesome. Old power was in the way, and he moved it out of the way.

Also, I'm about to start slapping you hoes in this thread...Chris muthafricking Partlow is one of the baddest dudes on the whole show, and you fools are calling him Bartlow.

Nope. String was using it. The Game was a means to an end. He played it because he had the ill-fortune to be born black, probably less affluent, and in Baltimore. To climb the ladder he needed resources, and he used the system to his advantage. He wanted out of the streets.

Marlo embraced it. He never wanted more. He had no intentions of leaving. Levy tried to pull him out. Marlo was inexorably drawn back in to what he knew. String was neutral. Marlo was evil.
