I'm heading down for the game in Houston with five other recent University of Wisconsin grads. We're flying in and will be limited in tailgating supplies but we plan on bringing plenty of good beer and booze. Will we have a hard time walking around the LSU tailgates looking for some proper tailgating and fans to meet? Or will we get run out of town?

It looks like a few posters on these boards have had trouble with Badger fans in the past. Generally speaking, Badger fans are generally good midwestern folks. Although like all fan bases, we have our crazies. For the most part, we'll talk a little smack about the upcoming game then we'll share a beer with you. Or two. And maybe a couple shots of whiskey. Or a few.

Tailgating will be very subdued compared to games on campus, so don't expect too much.

Unfortunately this. We plan on spending some time before the game downtown before heading to the game site much later than usual.

Fans at neutral site games are completely different...I've only been to bowls in regards to LSU neutral sites games. But the students are the ones that really heckle the opposing fans and there are always far less of those at neutral site games.

Should be very welcoming tailgates...but nothing as extravagant as Tiger Stadium tailgates. So don't judge the tailgate by this trip.

It's usually people who never step foot in an LSU classroom that gives our fanbase a bad name

You'll have a hard time just because the NRG Stadium tailgating policy is ridiculous.

You can thank the Mexican gang fight between cowboys and texans fans for that

Use to be pretty good tailgating

This. It will be nothing like tailgating at LSU mostly due to the stadiums tailgating rules and times. And just because there is nothing like tailgating at LSU.

You shouldn't have a problem finding any LSU fans to let you tailgate with them, especially if you bring booze.

LSU away games are odd, I swear these yards
Come out of the swamps missing teeth and all and show up at LSU road games. We have some crappy travel fans. Neutral site is usually a little better. The nicer the stuff the nicer the people. Grey hair.......go there.

I don't know...I think it is an equal mix. Or at least it used to be when I frequented games. But I would be willing to bet that the people over the age of a student that acted embarrassingly were either college dropouts or never students altogether.

And I guess I assumed people of college age were current students in my assumption. So you never know. Anyways, at least they are a significant minority.

And then there's this fool.

Hey genius, I've seen a number of LSU students act like complete assholes.

It means for all intents and purposes, tailgating will be non-existent due to the NRG stadium rules.

Can anyone confirm this or explain? What are these rules and are they being enforced? Our plan was to get to NRG around 11 am and set up shop. No grill, but we may be bringing a burner, tent, coolers, etc.

What lot are you in? They are not opening up until 1:00 for a couple and 2:00 for the rest.

Red. So, I guess this means we'll have to change some plans. But I've found the tailgating policy. A fire extinguisher??? WTF???
