Don't know if this is true, but I heard it today on Andrew Wilkow's show.

His producer came on briefly and said the black voter participation rate in Ferguson for the last election was 7 percent. If that is true, then that is astounding.

What in the hell are they marching about if only 7 percent bother to show up at the polls?

I think the point is that the media is saying that the racial makeup of the local govt is not representative of the town (white mayor, police chief) which is majority black. The people who make up the vast majority of the town won't even go to the polls to put their own guy in power to represent them.

So, just going off the rough statistics from Wiki:

Total pop is 21,111
Black pop is 67.4%

That's 996 black voters in the last election.

Probably because more than 7% are marching around saying "I voted for Barack Obama and I demand justice."

*This is in reference to the citizen from Ferguson on the radio yesterday saying Barry should come meet with him.

Nothing, but it goes to the media's and race-baiters' narrative about the city being racist because all but one of the members of the city council are white.

That would only be correct if every black resident is over the age of 18 and eligible to vote.

Same for the Ferguson has 53 cops and only 3 are black argument. If they want more black officers then there needs to be an effort to complete the training.

What happens to the white officers? Transfer? Unemployment?

are only voters not worthy of being shot?

We could've had a discussion about this but people on here lost their shite about the headline of why a black-majority town was run by white people.

There's nothing between you and that keyboard but air and opportunity. Carpe some diem and start the thread.

Nothing.

But it has EVERYTHING to do with justifying their reaction.

Yes, sorry.

71.3% (total pop avg) were above the age of 18 (assuming it's the same rate in the black community), so that number would be 710.

Maybe it's bc of the racist polling statutes that require an ID?

Not my point at all, and, again, I reiterate that I don't know if what was on Wilkow's show is true.

Supposing it is true, then why is the black majority in that community acting like they have no say in how things are done in their community? If their voter participation rate was closer to 33 percent, then a lot would change. They don't need the AG, or Sharpton or any other race-baiter to come to their rescue.

BTW, the protests don't seem to have much to do with a kid being shot. The looting certainly doesn't. The AG dropped by and talked about change. My point is the ability to effect change is in their control, but they aren't engaged enough to do it themselves.

Got a cite for that beyond hearsay from some talk radio guy?

No, I don't, and I've pointed out twice previously that I do not know if what was stated is indeed fact.
