And if so, what's the market like? Should I buy any or invest a significant amount of money in them?

I say yes, without a doubt. I was on Amazon and at checkout it had the bitcoin logo for one of the method of payments.

Not that I doubt you, but I just checked and I don't have that option. Maybe they auto filtered it out for me

What happened to all the bitcoin threads that were pervasive at one point?

Then it was on dell, or best buy...if not amazon

Yep, it's on Dell.com.....they take bitcoin

So I would say yes, there is still a buying and selling market for bitcoin out there.

XBT Spot dropped from 1130 to 533 in about 2 weeks, and Wiki went MIA. Josh still posts bitcoin threads from time to time. The real demon for bitcoin enthusiasts on this board wasn't the price drop, that happens with anything as new and fragile as this. The bigger demon is the slow arching regulatory umbrella that has creeped over bitcoin this year.

I've heard they'll be worth over $5k each by the end of the year so you better hop all over it.

Yes he predicted it would be $5,250 per coin by December 31st 2014 and backed up his prediction with a bunch of true believer gobbellygook. It's currently a tenth of that.

Shortly before he left he also insisted that most cars on the road would be driverless cars within 7 years and insulted anyone that disagrees with them. 6 years remaining on that promise.

Aren't bitcoin a pretty big thing on the deep web? If so they aren't going anywhere.

For the last 24 hour period about 145,000 of the 203,000 Bitcoins traded on the tracked exchange, the trades were denominated in Chinese Yuan. LINK Trades in U.S. dollars weren't even $25 million in volume.

Benny is right. The bitcoin economy will grow even if the NYDFS style regulations are actually implemented, it will just take longer. The Bitcoin economy is attracting a lot of VC which helps now, but that'll at the very least slow up if the Benjamin Lawsky's of the world have their way
