Me and the little woman want to spend a few days at Grand Isle to kick back and a little fishing.

A few questions,recs?

Place to stay for two?
Where to eat?
Charter service for two, full or half day?
Fishing from piers, bridge, shore?

We have limited funds so any tips would be appreciated
TIA

Does not compute

In all seriousness your looking at around $1k by time u rent a place, charter a trip, food, fuel, etc.

if on a tight budget may be better to look at renting a cabin at a state park, usually around $100/night. Tickfal state park real nice and close to BR.

You can go down and fish the fishing pier at night. Success can be very good.

Bridgeside has good burgers

Any of the beaches should be catching fish and crabs. The bridge is usually a little too packed for me but that is also possible. Check with Bobby Lynns in Leeville you may be able to rent a couple kayaks or a tandem kayak for cheap which could open up a bunch more fishing.

Bring bleach to wash out and cuts you get. My thumb got infected this past weekend and it has been a week of pain and doctor visits.

Stating at Bridgeside gets you access to their fishing pier...

You can do GI cheap. But going out to eat and a charter is what will eat up cash.

Didn't they sell off all the yaks?

Should be able to catch plenty from the shore. And the crabs are running pretty good. Charter trips and budgets don't go together, they are expensive.

how limited is "Limited"? Sounds like a cabin at BRidgeside is your best bet. you can fish/crab off the pier. If you're going soon, there should still be decent fishing and crabbing along the beach. Just find a public place to park and fish the beaches. The beach w/ rock jetties will give you more fishing options.

Onion rings and a cheeseburger at the Starfish FTW!

On average a place to stay starts at 75 a night. Includes Bridgeside, Cajun tide, Ricks motel, places like these. I like Cajun tide. It has BBQ pits, fish cleaning station, picnic tables, outdoor kitchen, rocks to fish on beach side, carts provided to carry your stuff to beach, across the street from starfish restaurant (My favorite place on the island), and the people that run it are very friendly. Bridgeside has good burgers and poyboys, and I've heard the hurricane hole has really good food. As for a charter, if you are strapped for cash, this really isn't an option. Your best bet would be fishing Elmer's in the morning and the afternoon move towards caminada side ode knees island. I suggest getting live shrimp. Fishing from the old bridge can be productive as long as tide is moving.

Well I searched a couple of charters and too much for us. I'm not a serious fisherman but would like to check it out from a pier somewhere. The ones mentioned for public use are the one by Bridgeside and at state park? Any others to consider?
What can I expect from the piers? Tips? Thanks

Bridges at night are best fished with ultralight gear and small white crappie bIts and 1/32 oz jig heads...

nighttime pier fishing is wierd. Light tackle and real small fresh-water type baits like ^^ he said.

The beach is fairly simple, regular speck and red fishing. Get you some live shrimp for best results. Early in the a.m., around sunrise, you can often catch trout in the first trough off the beach. as the day goes on and/or the tide goes out you may have to move out a little to find them.

I'd be perfectly content to stay at a beach motel and just fish the surf in the morning and afternoon with lunch and a nap in the middle of the day.

Thanks, we were going sometime later after labor day. Maybe when it cools a little. How is fishing in mid September to early October?

Water starts to clear up out on the beach. Caught many fish at that time of the year.
