In your opinion, who are some the best TE's to get in later rounds?

I feel like this year, there's only 3 solid choices for the position and after that, it becomes a wash.

1. Jimmy Graham obviously
2. Julius Thomas
3. Vernon Davis

If PPR, Witten could definitely be up there, but I just don't see much depth here. Anyone have somebody they're keeping an eye on or really like?

Rudolph
Ertz
Green
Kelce

all of them have potential to crack the top 5 and put up big numbers.

I am not touching him this year. Too TD dependant and now there are even more options with Crabtree healthy and Johnson coming over. Grownkowski's risk is real, but his ceiling is so far higher than Vernon Davis you have to put him at the no.3 spot. In a PPR, I like Witten no.3 overall. They will throw the ball all over the place in Dallas this year.

Im specifically targeting Pitta and Rudolph in mid/later rds. Cameron just got a bump with Hoyer being named starter. I know, I know, Norv is no longer there (which is why Rudoplh gets the bump), but Cameron is Hoyer's guy. He has real shot at 10 TD's imo.

1. Frick Vernon Davis

2. I like Witten where you can probably end up drafting him

3. Jordan Reed and Cameron are decent pick ups

4. Ladarius (sp?) Green I hope to take late

I like to draft reed and backup with Ertz because of health depending on bench spots and flex. They go late. If I somehow miss both I will grab Rudolph or Kelce.

Big difference when there are 55 TDs to share between your receivers vs only 21.

I got Olsen in the 8th. Think he has a monster year as Cam will need SOMEBODY to be MR. DEPENDABLE.

He has been ranked in the top 8 TEs in the last 3 years so he is constant at the position lacking consistency.

In the 8 games after Crabtree returned from injury (5 reg season, 3 post), Vernon Davis averaged 4.8 targets/game. With them adding Stevie Johnson into the mix now, do you feel his targets will go up or continue to slide down?

Julius Thomas averaged 7.3 targets over that same span and now Decker is gone. Do you think his targets will go up or down?

Yes, they are both TD dependent, but wouldnt you want the one playing in the same offense that produced four 10 TD guys last year and is led by Peyton Manning? Their ceilings may be the same, but their floors are vastly different no?

and scored 5 TDs in those final 8 games

He only averaged 6 targets/game in the first 11 games tho to begin wtih.

I like em both. Id give a slight edge to Thomas because of the offense, but Peyton isnt throwing 55 TDs again.

The additions to the 49'ers offense may actually help Davis. He is no longer the vocal point in the passing game for other defenses.

I think Thomas is kind of getting overrated at this point. You call Davis TD dependent, but there was EIGHT TE's that had more catches than Thomas last year(also 8 that had more targets overall). And there were SEVEN that finished with more yards. But he did catch TWELVE TD's, which boosted him all the way up to 3rd overall.

I would take him in the 3rd if there.

Young guy and is only gonna get better in that offense.

Kyle Rudolph legitimately looks better/faster physically this year. Caveat: how many times have we ever seen him running in open field?

quote:

"I have (noticed Rudolph's weight loss) especially in terms of his speed and quickness,'' Cassel said. "He looks great running around, and he's looked great all camp, and that's starting to carry over on the field on game days.''

Rudolph is developing into perhaps Cassel's favorite target, having caught all of his passes this preseason from him. In the opener Oct. 8 against Oakland, Rudolph almost caught a touchdown from Cassel on the opening drive, being knocked out at the 1 after a 22-yard gain

Charles Clay is the best LATE (round 11-13)value IMO. He will be close to top 5 again in both targets and receptions this year. Oh and he was the only TE to score a rushing TD last year. Had knee injury few weeks back but he returned to practice Monday and should be good to go for week 1.

Love the value!

I was all over Clay last year especially when I thought he was going to take over the goal line vulture role. If he ever were to secure that role, he would be awesome.

There is so much value in TE's this year.

Charles Clay has a knee, could linger all season. Dolphins are very high on Dion Sims too. He's huge.

It should be noted that Julius Thomas is 26 and going into his 4th season. He's perceived to be young and up and coming, but the guy has been in the league for a few years now. Don't expect some huge jump in production, especially with so many receiving threats in Denver
