Nothing has ever been more important than fighting for folks like you. You are my priority.

And right now, a focus of that fight has to be getting people who really care about making things better for you elected. The upcoming elections could determine whether or not we have a Congress who will work with me to help you.

That's why it's so important I spend some time helping Democrats campaign and win. I can only tackle the issues that matter to you with some help. Will you help me out?

We've got fewer than 80 days left until the election, and I know I can count on you to vote for our guys -- but I need you to take the next step and make an investment that will help us win in November.

The bottom line is this: We can make so much progress if we work together as a team -- you, me, and Congress. Chip in $3 or whatever you can to help make that a reality.

Thanks for everything,

Barack Obama

P.S. -- If you donate before midnight, you'll be automatically entered into a contest to meet me at a barbecue Labor Day weekend. I need to hear from you about the issues we need to tackle so we can back the right candidates this fall.

---- end of email --------

I like the 'team' archetype. "You, me and Congress." As though Obama actually wrote this email. Probably appeals to women. I don't want to feel that close to the President regardless of party.

I actually think that the language is geared to females. I'm gonna go back up and 'bold' those terms on the OP.

Speaking of language, shouldn't "You, me and Congress." be "You, Congress and I"?

He better get rid of the plague hanging around his neck then. I don't see the Demticians ringing Obama's phone off the wall asking for help.

OTOH, it will keep out of D.C. if he did.

I think it's correct as is.

I don't see anything wrong with that either.

The BBQ with Obama part makes me throw up a little in my mouth, though.

It's what we used to call 'stilted' language. I'm not sure if that term is used these days.

George Bush used stilted language in oral speech. But the email is written language and should have been edited.
