This kid was the #1 ranked duel-threat QB. Urban Meyer hand selected this kid. Here are his SR/JR year highlight videos of him in case anybody needs a look. This kid is going to be good. The coaches are saying that at this point in his carreer, he is way ahead of where Braxton was. Now he just needs to go out and do it. The JT Barrett era is under way.

That video is decent, he has an OK arm.

He is also a Redshirt freshman coming off an ACL injury. He will most likely have a bunch of turnovers that will lead to putting our young DBs and under-performing linebacker corps on it's heals early and often.

It's not a good recipe for success.

What happened to Kenny Guiton(sp?)?

I know he played last year and played pretty well.

I'm always surprised at the number of QBs who like to shoot people that get mentioned around here.

Really? Damn, I could have swore he was young last year, but I admit to not really following OSU.

Compared them to Braxton Miller's tape. All Miller does is run. This kid is going to be just fine. He played big boy football in Texas. Some of you guys need to step back from the ledge. Why do the injuries matter to you? Miller never played an entire season while at Ohio State, and yet you are worried about an injury 2 years ago?

Lol no they haven't. Braxton won offensive player of the year in the Big Ten after his second season with the program. Barrett won't.

You just never know until someone plays with the pressure on. He has the tools to succeed for sure.

After he matures, sure. I'm just being realistic. He will turn the ball over a lot, as freshmen tend to do. That will put our defense in a hole, and judging from last year that doesn't bode well. Of course we've made changed to the defensive staff, but that's another unknown.

Things are just way too up in the air for many Ohio State fans to be confident that the team will be great this year.

The only part of the team I'm confident in is our Defensive Line which should be extremely deep and also have incredible talent at the top. That certainly will help our LBs and DBs, but I don't think it'll be enough to get us to the playoffs this year without a guy like Braxton that can outscore just about anyone if our D can slightly slow them down.

Ohio State could stroll out Pee-Wee Herman and you'd say hes the second coming of Peyton Manning.

Will Herman/Meyer go more conservative with the QBs (if you understand what I'm getting at). I would think they wouldn't ask him to do too much with the ball, but I see what you are saying.

I actually think brining in Ash was a solid hire (bs on the SECr aside). Definitely having a solid depth on DL will be huge. Any real changes on scheme by Fickell, though?

eta: I loved the Larry Johnson hire on DL, really liked his work at PSU for all those years.
