Since arriving in Baton Rouge from Virginia Tech, Grimes has put the Tigers to school on everything from terminology to hand placement to footwork. Grimes is the kind of coach that gets everything possible out of each minute of practice, and his players have felt the attention to detail rachet up.

"Practices are more intense when it comes to technique,” Hawkins said. "We’re not just working on blocking the front seven. He’s showing us the steps and footwork to get out to the next level of the defense and go after safeties and cornerbacks as well. Since the spring he’s really opened my vision to seeing football as a whole.”

It moved a little

Hopefully the OL is good as advertised but we've been hearing this since 2009

I really like his idea of getting the best 5 linemen on the field regardless of position.

If true, it blows my mind that Studrawa didn't even teach footwork.

Regardless, very excited about Grimes and the O-line this year.

It was time for a change and I think Miles got his man this time.

That O-line was beyond beastly.

Do we call more power blocking or zone scheme plays? I'm assuming power, but I think with our RB's if we can do both effectively we'll be a tough team to stop.

I know a former LSU O-linemen that had coach stud as a position coach and he couldn't stand him. thought he was an idiot and lazy as a coach. he was very happy to see him leave the program.

Its going to make a huge difference in coming years, especially with recruiting. Grimes will have credibility where our previous regime had none.

Did Stud ever find a job anywhere else? Can't believe it took Miles this long to make a change.

The funny thing is how stacked the O line is overall. Even our 2nd string is full of talent just itching to pound defenders. Grimes mixed with all of that talent is a good sign for the teams future.

Loyalty to friends is always a mistake for both sides involved...but at least it got done!
