to justify being ranked no.6 while LSU is no.13? That's a rhetorical question. They haven't. They actually haven't really come close. I don't understand why they are looked at as a co-favorite to win the SEC West while LSU is being picked to finish 4th-5th by some experts and expected to lose 4 games. Why is that? Alabama seems like the only team that is as talented and deep as us in the country, and even Bama has it's own issues. They're ranked no.2, yet are in the exact same boat as us with the QB situation.

Maybe it's because most preseason rankings are a basis of last season's results and biases to returning players/over-juicing them.

Advice ... care less about preseason rankings.

Auburn was about 2 or 3 yards from having 3 SEC losses. field goal two yards closer Bama wins it with time expiring. Two yards shorter pass Auburn fails to convert on 4th lose to Georgia.

They also could have lost to aTm. Auburn wasn't the most talented team, they moved the ball real well on average defenses who they faced all year, and got some lucky bounces to make it to the NC

I actually like being the under the radar team. If we win, we'll be in the mix at the end.

their 2012 class beat ours.

2011 we were one spot ahead.

13 and 14 we were ahead but not by much. if you want to nit pick you can say that we recruited better but it's pretty close.

edit: according to rivals

Dude they were better on the field overall last year. When LSU whens the SEC the rankings will follow. Rankings don't mean shite in August, and they sure as hell are not based on recruiting classes.

Yes they did. Yet when they played us last year in their magical run, we looked/were a completely dominant team over them. We looked ALOT better than them and alot deeper plus we were a younger team.

we played them early

had we played them a month or so later, there's a good chance we lose

do you seriously not follow football at all?

They were really young last year and took time to gel.

Based on recruiting rankings, I don't think there is as big of a gap as you suggest.

LSU
Class Rank:
2011 - 8
2012 - 14
2013 - 6
2014 - 2

Auburn
2011 - 5
2012 - 11
2013 - 13
2014 - 6

For the past 4 years LSU's Rival ranking average is 8. Auburn's is 8.25.

2012 was a poor year for us at 18 according to Rivals.

Regardless, Auburn and LSU's overall talent is pretty close.

Auburn will be a 3 or 4 loss team this year.

@KState
LSU
@MSU
USCe
@Miss
aTm
@UGA
@Bama

that is a very very tough schedule.

I think they could have a year like UGA last year could big wins to start maybe beat LSU at home, but than they hit some tough road games and end up losing 3 or 4 games by years end.

with their schedule they could easily start 6-0 and finish 7-5 or 8-4

they play the two best teams from the east and other than aTm and ark they play middle of the road teams in the west on the road.

What difference does it make? If LSU wins, they will move up. They have another potentially huge problem with QB which could result in having a "unidemensional" offense...again. We know where that can lead even with a kick arse defense.
