To power a normal sized fridge/freezer, tv, window unit (optional), and any other auxiliaries that I might need for a week or so. How much gas would I need for a week or so to run 12 - 16 hrs/day. 3300W? 30 gal?

Thanks.

Bone.

5500 would work fine with that, but I've done it with less. Shoot for a 6500 just to be safe. They burn a maybe 3 gallons every 12hrs IIRC. Not positive on that one though

I have a 6500 Generac-runs through 5 gallons about every 10-12 hrs. If I did not run as much on it, sure it would go longer on the same amount of gas.

That's the one I have, power never goes out around here, well for 20 seconds it does

The problem with most of these smaller (3500-7500 watt) generators from the box stores is they are not designed for continuous duty.

If you run them for 12-16 hours per day for a week, you'll likely experience degradation of power and might even end up breaking down.

The last time I used one, we only used it intermittently to keep the refrigerator and freezers cold.

By the time you decide what size you'll need they will be sold out. There will likely be a run on gas.

3300 would be fine. Just run the refrigerators/freezers every now and then to keep them cold.

If you try to run a window unit plus all that on it non-stop, you'll fry it pretty quick.

I bought two small window units at HD a few years back for $100 a piece, and have been completely happy with their performance. Generator doesn't even flinch when they are turned on

I've ran a 5500 in a similar situation, 5 gallons gas would last 10 hours. Did that for a week after Gustav.

3300W?

I'd get at least a 5500. It will probably burn 5 gallons every 12 hours of running, so 30-40 gallons.

I have only done it once with a generator, but I got a crap unit from Lowes. It did a decent job of running a window AC for the bedroom, a couple of lamps and fan in the kitchen, I didn't run anything at the same time. For my use, I think if I added a little 2000 Honda to my mix, I would be able to keep everything pretty comfortable and would also have a nice little unit to take with me places.

I need to get mine out and make sure it is running, getting that time of year

To hell with buying gas, I just converted mine to natural gas. Plus it will still run on gasoline.

I have a 6500 Generac sitting in my shed waiting to be fixed. It's looking like I might have to get to it this weekend

My little no name from Sutherlands did fine for 3 days running freezer/fridge and one window unit pretty much constantly. We would run a window unit in the family room during the day, then move it to the bedroom at night.

Any idea about propane consumption on a 2500 watt Honda generator?
