It appears the refs will actually enforce PI and defensive holding past 5 yards this year. This will downgrade Seattle's defense and add value to various WR's around the league.

I was thinking about the effect this will have on RB's. Initially I thought to downgrade RB's a good bit relative to high end WR's. However enforcement of these rules means CB's will have more trouble defending one on one requiring more safety help meaning less 8 man boxes.

What are people's thoughts on this? Do you change your values at all based on the enforcement of these rules? If so, how much?

No.

You're overthinking it.

Has been discussed on a couple different podcasts, so it's worth a look IMO.

If they continue calling it so tight I think defenses will adjust and it will lead to a boon in offensive stats. However, I doubt they keep calling it so tight, in fact I believe the refs have all but come out and stated once the regular season starts they will loosen up a bit.

I dont know. It seems like they have to loosen up a bit because pace really sucks in the pre-season and fans are angry, but the NFL just came out and said that they will call it the same in the regular season as they are in pre-season:

“We’re not going to change how we’re calling the games once the regular-season starts,’’ NFL V.P. of officiating Dean Blandino told The MMQB.

Well it's not like WR's get points for PI calls. You may see and uptick in offensive numbers, but it doesn't exactly hurt the RB's. I would think it would benefit them more operating with a shorter field.
