Talk me out of returning $300 in Columbia Omni-Freeze Zero

My wife recently went to a local retailer and was talked into getting me a number of Omni-Freeze Zero. They are regular T-shirts, polo/golf shirts and shorts (no $140 long sleeve fishing shirt). I like the cut of Columbia shirts but these are my first OFZ.
Right off, I checked the tags and they are 100% polyester and the little circles seem to just be printed on the fabric (not functional?). I know polyester in itself doesn't breathe well but I gave one shirt a shot multiple times over the weekend. I think the shirt is absolute crap. The polyester is knit tightly together and doesn't breathe at all unless soaking wet. Adding to that, you can see when the shirt is soaking wet/you are sweating. Also, I don't think the tight knit allows for quick drying.
I went and grabbed my other shirts that I love and in order they are:
- Magellan Fish Gear "MagCool" 52% Poly/48% nylon
- Reebok, don't know the "line" shirt 100% Nylon (but loosely knit)
- Magellan Pro Angler long sleeve "MagCool" 100% Poly (but with vents)
Easily, the Columbia OFZ is bottom of the list and it isn't even close. Am I crazy to think OFZ is crap? Anyone recommend another brand's cooling technology line to checkout?

I have a t-shirt with that and the only thing it does well is sucking up the smell of sunscreen.
Not a fan

If you don't like them, return them.
I have the $35 long sleeve Columbia fishing shirts and I think they work pretty well. The only time they seem to fail is if they get completely soaked thru. Then I just take it off for 15 minutes to dry and it's good to go again.
And congrats on a wife that buys you $30" in Columbia gear.

DSD - I have several of the regular long sleeve Columbia shirts as well and love them. This is the newer technology that they came out with last year and charge a handsome premium. It's shite.

I like the World Wide Sportsman brand and have had good luck with their fishing shirts. I've had the same two long sleeve button down fishing shirts with the roll up sleeves for several years. They aren't pretty but they work well enough. In this heat it's hard not to break a sweat just getting out of the truck to launch the boat. And, they don't show that you've sweated through them though the smell is a dead give away. But, that may be more a choice of color. One blue and one tan. Columbia stuff looks like quality stuff but I have a hard time justifying that kind of money on something I'll be fishing in.

Yeah. I hate those shirts too.

Not a even trade. I have some Omni-Shade which I love in the winter, but they are a sweat machine above 80 degrees. This is worse because I and wear PFD.
I'll check out World Wide Sportsman the next time I'm in BPS. Recommend a line? Does anyone local sell AFTCO?

No nike dri-fit in your list? That's seriously almost all I wear these days.
I have a long sleeve white with a hood and one without a hood and I wear them only for fishing. Love 'em
I have one Columbia long sleeve and wear it occasionally but it's definitely not as cool (temperature)

All of my Columbia shirts suck. Columbia performance wear is just not on par with the true outdoor companies anymore.
Drirelease is good (Orvis, Marmot, TNF)
Ex Officio is good
Whatever Simms uses is good
Arcteryx is insane

I haven't tried the new OFZ collection, so cannot comment, but I use the Blood & Guts shirts for fishing and I also have a number of the Low Drag Offshore shirts that I wear around town.
Thin material, dries fast, very comfortable. I wear long-sleeves and am rarely ever hot in them.
Best thing is you can find them regularly on sale for around $25 online. . . I don't think I have ever paid full price for a Columbia shirt.
