soil ph is 5.1-6.0 so lime is needed.
We plan to disc, lime, and spread fertilzer next weekend. Then plant maybe the next weekend. Do y'all think round up is a must?

round up is always a good idea
I'd suggest spraying a week or so before you chop

They usually require two treatments with the roundup just to make sure you kill everything. If you just disc it under it will grow back.

We always roundup (about a week or two ahead), then disc

Mean Bean in one, WinterPz in another, and rackmaster elite in the rest

You don't have to spray but it sure helps.
Ensures that there are no unwanted grasses competing with the nutrients that your good plot plants want

A little late for lime. Even pelletized,"quick-release" lime takes 6 months to be incorporated into the soil. Will help for next year though if you put enough.

We normally roundup. Wait 2 weeks disc. Wait a few more weeks then roundup again. Wait two more weeks then spread seeds and lightly disc.

I almost always roundup, unless the field has perennial clover. This time of year, though, the clover has gone dormant and it has already seeded into the soil bed, so killing the clover isn't much of a concern.

And fwiw you can buy the generic roundup at Tractor Supply for about half price. And I've been using it for the last few years and it works just as well.
And I have stock in Monsanto.
