Yesterday Michael's Mens Wear in Homer, LA sponsored a "silencer"/suppressor demonstration w/ a factory representative from SilencerCo. I do not have a suppressor, but now expect to buy one in the near future. Some of my observations:
The sponsor did a very good job w/ the demo.
The factory rep was very knowledgeable.
The shotgun suppressor is the real thing, although very expensive at $1400 MSRP. The 12" model is much quieter than is the 6 1/2" model.
Using subsonic ammo, a 22LR is amazingly quiet while big bore guns like the 45 ACP, 9mm and 300 BO are very quiet, as well.
When supersonic ammo is used, the suppressor still muffles the sounds, but not nearly as much compared to subsonic.
Setting up a "Gun Trust" is the best way to go about purchasing a suppressor. I always had the impression the "Gun Trust" had to be set up by a lawyer, but that's not necessarily the case. Beginning 11/14 SilencerCo., for a cost of $129, will start providing to people the paperwork to set up a "Gun Trust." SilencerCo.'s paperwork was done by a lawyer in TX and will only require the services of a local notary public for submission. I met a local man (non-lawyer) at the demo who wrote up his own "Gun Trust" application that more than 20 others have successfully used to establish their trust.
Also beginning 11/14, SilencerCo. will start selling threaded barrels and ammo, including "300 Black Out ammo that kills." (His exact words.)
SilencerCo. seems to have good customer service. For any suppressor you send back to them, they promise return w/in 48 hours. They also offer one free replacement of your suppressor "for a stupid mistake."

I really enjoyed the demo and found it very informative. It's good to know there will be a local dealer in Homer, as well. I hope to start the "Gun Trust" application soon.

Just a quick reply. I'll go into details on computer later.

A trust in LA needs to be drawn up by an attorney in LA. We are the only state that use napoleanic law and other trust do not work. The atf will either deny you your form 4/1 or if they later find out about it, revoke it.

Hornady has some great 300blk "that kills". I trust an ammo manufacturer to make ammo and a silencer company to make silencers.

My brother will be the one at silensorco that will be handling things on their end, and my other brother practices her in Louisiana so I may be able to help out for those who are interested.

Wonderful. This will only make the class 3 world larger. I am actually very happy about this.

There were 2 petitions to remove sbrs and silencers from the nfa list. Does anybody know how those went? Did they get enough support?

I think SBRs would be common sense. Why the hell not? If a criminal wants a SBR, he will make one with a hacksaw. Why should I have to wait months and spend $200 to do so? Id love to hear the liberal argument against this.

Suppressors: Europe loves them. Its appreciated for hunters to use them and no disturb others. However, that shite would never fly over here. The liberals will claim that the murder rate will skyrocket. How many people do you really think will screw a fricking $1000 can onto a hipoint before robbing a store?

Does this mean the gun trust being provided by SilencerCo will not be recognized in LA?

My full understanding is not worth a damn right now. I'm three sheets gone but take this for what it's worth. If you're buying a $1000 toy, or several $1000 toys, why try to save a few bucks by going through a website for a trust?

Knister is Nola has done hundreds of trust and has allowed Louisiana citizens to purchase thousands of class 3 weapons. I have been told by every single dealer that a trust in Louisiana has to be written under napoleanic law. My first silencer has been approved using a Nola attorney and I'm about to file 3 more forms.

Now, bio said that... frick. I can't remember what he said. However, it looks like silencer Co may be aware of LA law and will probably accommodate for that. I would call and confirm 100% before hand though.

It's a shame that the pinkos across the ocean are less scared of cans than we are

The beliefs surrounding this keep Louisiana attys in bidness. Kudos to this Knister guy for making you go local, err, stay in the state for your trust docs.

I have a good friend that's a competitive shooter, knows the owners personally and has great things to say about them.

Who did yours or who do you recommend? I'm assuming you have a legal background. What speciality do you practice?

Inshoance defense, bruh. I ain't got no trust, or silencers, or fully automatic weaponz either. Not in the Army, nor am i a hitman, nor am i concerned about the impending zombiepocalypse. My Mathews MQ1 is way more quiet than a silenced rifle, and that's all i use to shoot deer.

My point in joking around was that the La Trust Code doesn't differ much from the Uniform Trust Code used everywhere else. Sure, some provisions differ, but there is nothing addressing this NFA stuff, so claiming that Napoleanic Law makes it necessary to use a guy in New Orleans is incorrect, and more like smart marketing. Kinda like believing Morris Bart is gonna get you the bestest settlement for your car wreck.

So after all that, we agree that LA trust are different. Good.
