How bad has the umpires and ruling been thus far into this thing?

Just now Japan gives up a run because the ball gets stuck in the catchers gear so it becomes a dead ball and the run scores seriously?!

Other bad calls:
struck a guy out with 2 strikes.
End of South Dakota game.

Maybe it is time to get paid umpires to get this correct

Not watching the game, but this is the rule:

quote:

g) A pitched ball lodges in the umpire’s or catcher’s mask or paraphernalia, and remains out of play, runners advance one base.

Did the umps get it wrong?

How is the ball out of play if it is in the catchers gear?

Not sure if serious. The two strike strikeout really bugged if especially since they could not review it

Skip got tossed arguing this same call I believe, during a regional game against Long Beach St. In the 90's.

The ball being stuck in a catchers mask or gear is the exact same as a ball becoming stuck in a fence. Same ruling. Nothing wrong with that call.

Damn, Nevada kicked the crap out of Chicago.

Guess that story is over.

The series every year is Japan vs. some team from the South or West Coast.

Japan wins it more often than not.
