NFL Jersey Renaming

So my friend who is a Browns fan sees a bunch of Trent Richardson and Brandon Weeden Browns jerseys for sale in Champs today for $20. They're not the replica screen printed numbers they are the what I call "Fools Authentic" jerseys where just the numbers and name are stitched.
He's got this idea that he can get an embroidery place to rip one of the players name strips off and put his last name in it's place. With the moisture wicking stuff that Nike makes the jerseys out of does anyone think he has a shot?

IS the name stitched? Either way the easiest way would probably be to make a nameplate with a solid backing and just cover them up. He should take it to a shop though. Sometimes they have tricks to solve it depending on how it was done or how well. Also if the jersey is that cheap he should probably just buy a new one cause embroidery can be expensive.
