Can we all agree that looting as a form of protest is absolutely insane?

Seriously, how fricking stupid is looting? Do the looters really think this is the most appropriate way to send their message?
Especially, in the current case. Looting private businesses for something that involved a public employee. I think they just want free shite.
Can we all, liberal, conservative, independent & Green Party Buddhist, agree on this?

It isn't a form of protest, no matter how much they claim it is.
It is theft using protests as cover. Plain and simple.

Mobs take on a life of their own, and don't behave rationally, whether it's po folks in the hood, or fratstars pillaging after a Big 10 football game.

winner winner chicken dinner.
How is it protest to loot the store that Brown robbed? How is that justice by any rational logic?
Admittedly I am a bit extreme when it comes to property defense. I have no problem with overwhelming excessive force being used on criminals.
If you don't want to die, don't set foot anywhere near my property with the intent to steal from me.

Whites need to start exercising their right to riot. After the OJ verdict, we should have looted and burned every Macy's in the U.S.

It's not protesting. Its what animals do when they see an open window for getting free shite and protesting is their excuse because he was an innocent boy with his hands up.

Let me do what all the pro-war people on this board do when kids die in a war:
Hey, it's protesting. Sometimes there's collateral damage. What are you gonna do?

It is insane as a form of protest but surprisingly effective for procuring shite without paying for said shite.

Are you joking? Of course they just want free shite. Some people use the confusion and hysteria of such events to steal shite from others.

Well, sure, it's obvious to most. My point, is to be taken seriously, bring about "social justice", or whatever their goal is, someone that these people respect, needs to come forward and denounce this type of action. Maybe they already have, I don't know.
If they want to be taken seriously, at the very least, vent your anger & frustration towards the people responsible for you being pissed off. If AT&T pisses me off, I'm not gonna call DIRECTV and bitch.

Problem is that most of the people they respect are either the hucksters who make the most money from these "times of crisis" or dumbass celebrities who don't know shite about shite.

Looting isn't protesting. Looting takes place because people see opportunity to get away with theft at times when police are spread thin. Protests, widespread power outage, hurricane, sports celebrations.

Or when you convince the world the police are being mean and then take advantage and loot while they watch.

So I've been reading about this fiasco over the last couple of days and watching various reports on tv. I do hope that everyone here realizes (and I know this is too much to hope for) that the actual looters and destructive assholes are a small minority of the black citizens and a minority of the protesters. The looters are common thugs and criminals . . . not ordinary black citizens.

It sickens me. Those people are a disgrace to the memories of people like Frederick Douglass, Harriet Tubman, Thurgood Marshall, ML King Jr., Abraham Lincoln, Union soldiers both black and white, and many other civil rights heroes.

I think most would agree with that. Problem is, they're getting the coverage and causing the destruction. The majority, which we agree the looters are the minority, need to call these assholes out. Like I said earlier, maybe they have been called out. These assholes do to the black community, what the KKK use to do to whites(maybe still do). All blacks aren't looting assholes, and all whites aren't racists. Unfortunately, their actions is more profitable for the media to report.

Gave Rex the upvote. His post nails it.

I remember a local auto salvage business in my hometown here in NH, way back in the early 1960's, with a sign at the entrance to the driveway through the gate, that said " If you're found here at night, you'll be found here in the morning."
Whenever I left the house with my friends, my mother would say "Just stay away from the junkyard. The last thing we need is a damn bill from the undertaker."
Good ol' Mom.
