I asked a similar question last week sometime, but now that lots of people have had their drafts, and people are in fantasy mode, I am asking with more details provided.

Here is the run down.
I can keep 1 player, but it counts as the 1st round pick.
Non PPR league, 12 teams, we don't know what order we are drafting and to make it more of a challenge, you have to declare if you are keeping a player or not before the draft positions are assigned.

Who would you keep between Brees and Forte?

I'd keep Forte. Any pick in the 1st round is worth it. Since you give up your 1st anyways I have to assume all the top 4 RBs are being kept. Very low risk, high reward of getting pick 11 or 12 and being able to get a really good WR as well.

I definitely wouldn't keep Brees at a 1st round cost tho.

I'm keeping Breed. Unless I get the first pick in our lottery.

Forte and it's not even remotely close. If you really want brees there's a good chance he'll be available in the 2nd unless you get the 1 spot. And if you got the 1 spot and used it on brees you'd have to be a fool

More qbs available who will put up good points. Top tier Rbs are harder to come by. Forte.

Forte looks pretty shitty so far but he should rebound

When I compare points, I always talk myself out of getting rid of him based off of the points he scores over an average QB.

If he averages say 10 points more than the average Qb, I usually say that makes up for having a mediocre RB.

I understand most don't consider Brees a 1st rounder this season, but how do you say Brees and say Zac Stacy or Demarco Murray is not just as good or better than as Matt Forte and Brady.

I know my drafting is suspect at times. You can never plan for other people's stupidity like over reaching for a certain player or someone taking 3 wrs with their first three picks leaving you scrambling for a decent wr.

You guys have me definitely leaning toward keeping Forte. I hope he can repeat last years success, because we know Brees will do his thing.

Not really an apt comparison; Stacy/Murray are each going significantly higher than Brady.

Unless you're set on grabbing a RB in the 1st 2 rounds, I'd much prefer one of Marshall/Green/Bryant/Jones to Murray/Stacy (PPR)

The problem with this theory is that

A) Its not all about total points between the two players. Obviously a QB would score more than an RB. It's about the relative value at each position. The 'elite' QBs aren't going to score that many more points per week that QBs 7-12. Maybe like an average of 5 points a week. (The difference between Peyton's RECORD SETTING YEAR and the number 10 QB, Romo, was about 9 points per week.)

B) With the Brees/Stacy combo you're "loosing" your 1st and 2nd round pick. Whereas with the Forte/Brady combo your loosing your 1st and about 7/8th round pick for very similar value (I actually like the Forte/Brady combo more) With this you can use your second rounder that you didn't loose because of an early QB selection on a solid RB2, really good WR1

I understand what you saying. One main advantage of keeping Brees is that I don't carry another QB on my team until his BYE week. Which means an extra RB or WR on the bench.

My league makes us declare if we are keeping a player without knowing our draft position, but I don't have to say which one until my pick.
So I think I will play it by the draft order and what the other owners are keeping/ picking.

Thank you all for the responses.
