Yep. Imagine being one of the people wearing a necklace while swimming and having that thing (except double the size) hit you that fast in the neck

They aren't generally gonna go at something that much bigger than them. I think we're safe.

Doesn't something like 300 people die from barracuda attacks every year in the GOM?

No way man.

They do go after shiny objects no matter the size.

Never been attacked, but to have a 4 footer watch you the ENTIRE time you spear fish at a rig is the worst feeling I've ever had under water while diving.

So when a trigger fish hit my earlobe, I thought I was going to be a Barracuda statistic! I wasn't wearing shiny objects, I was hugging my stringer of snapper trying to surface thru a swarm of Triggers.

That was one person and they don't appear to have died from the video.

I was talking about a link to 300 people/year dying in the GOM

There's no way.

Dude I had someone telling me about triggers doing that to them once. Nuts.

There were so many of them close to the surface, we have to leave rigs when it happens.

While snorkeling in Key West me and my wife had one swim under us that had to be 5 feet long. We were in about 8 feet of water and he was slowly cruising the bottom. He looked at us and kept moving. Captain on the boat said he'd much rather snorkel/dive around sharks than cudas
