Yesterday on LeBatard's show, they were discussing the ND academic scandal.

Amaechi stated that the schools, especially basketball don't give a shite about graduating student athletes.

He originally didn't want to name the SEC school he was using as an example to his point, but LeBatard goaded him into it.

He said LSU had a 2% graduation rate in the 90s/early 2000s.

Thanks, John Brady! The gift that keeps on giving!

Why are you upset about things that happened 20 to almost 15 years ago? Relax.

Talking about the final four he gave us? You act like we are in trouble with ncaa. Not to mention brady inherited a team that was on probation.

Actually, if you look at graduation rates of African American student athletes vs. White American student athletes, you would find that white graduation rates are significantly higher.

The same is true for women athletes vs. men athletes. This is largely because men are more likely to leave early for a pro career.

Men's basketball players are predominantly African American. Hence graduation rates are lowest for Men's basketball. Besides, accomplished athletes also can go pro any time ( and do not have to wait for 3 years like college football players ). The kids stay in college, the more likely they will graduate.

Also LSU's overall graduation rates were poor in the 90s and early 2000s. Saban recognized this when he came here in late 99. With the support of Mark Emmert and TAF, he did a lot to improve facilities and graduation rates.

That has paid off not only in football but other sports as well.

John Brady probably did not do enough to graduate players, but he did not have the kind of political backing that Nick Saban had.

Shouldn't you be upset with Dale for this? The 90's is all Dale's players and juco's Brady had to recruit to fill out the roster.

So what's Kentucky's graduation rate in basketball the last 3 years? I'm no math genius, but when the whole team gets drafted every year, I would assume they are hoovering around 0.5%

NBA should do the same 3 years of college like the NFL go google on how many NBA players drafted go broke

OR

just both NFL and NBA need to require a full 4 year degree

I hate Brady hater's.

Arguing grad rates is ridiculous in college hoops, as the poster above mentioned regarding Calipari/UK. They're like oil and water, don't mix.

I'll always remember Brady most for putting together that 2006 juggernaut team composed of players mainly from the Baton Rouge area.

Now that was special. I doubt few hoops teams from anywhere could compare to that home-grown collection of talent, and how great they were as a team.
