So there's this ridiculous free Kenny Chesney concert today...

...at FloraBama and it's coincidentally the same day my family's annual beach vacation in Orange Beach starts. I heard there's been some snafu where they gave thousands of free tickets away to this thing, and now there's a hundred million rednecks descending upon it in hordes. I thought about taking the ferry in Dauphin Island, but it looks like there's only one boat running every hour and a half that holds 18 cars.
Do I just bite the bullet and go sit in the massive traffic jam through the tunnel?

I've bypassed the tunnel by taking that new northern bridge that hooks up with 90. Might try that.
I'm sure all the slackjaws know all the back ways around there. Maybe they'll all be going those ways?

I don't really think the tunnel will be bad this time of the year. Maybe on a Friday evening, but not today.

Condos are rented sat to sat. The mobile tunnel will be hell starting around 11/12ish. So will 59.

Traffic is that bad this late? That's hard to believe. It's even harder to believe a concert would draw so many people that it would back up the interstate 60 miles away.

I-10 W to I-65 N to I-165 to the Africatown Bridge to hwy 90 to Spanish Fort, then get back on I-10 to the Foley Beach Express.

This, I'd just waste a night and drive up Sunday, or get a hotel on Friday night to avoid travelling on Saturday.

Uh, no. You can rent condos any day to any day. Some have minimums but none are set for certain intervals. I got here Wednesday and am leaving tomorrow.

In peak season, the majority are week long rentals. Just because you found one that isn't doesn't mean it isn't a major cause of traffic.
