I thought a DDOS attack is tough to defend against? This is not just PSN it is Xbox live also. It seems to only affect North America. I am sure they are trying to find ways to defend this.
Anyways this is the Xur list
The Armamentarium
•Class: Titan
•Type: Chest
Achlyophage Symbiote
•Class: Hunter
•Type: Helmet
Claws of Ahamkara
•Class: Warlock
•Type: Gauntlets
No Land Beyond
•Type: Sniper
Upgradable Exotics:
Crest of Alpha Lupi
Young Ahamkara's Spine
Helm of Saint-14
Helm of Inmost Light
Heart of Praxic Fire
Sunbreakers
Suros Regime
Red Death
Last Word
Thunderlord
Super Good Advice
Gjallarhorn
Hawkmoon

Once a DDoS attack has started it can be VERY difficult to isolate the source (usually bots) spaming the network devices to the point that they cannot handle legitimate traffic. That being said there are literally dozens of methods out there to prevent this type of attack. It's just a matter of having them in place beforehand.
The problem with denial of service is its such an antiquated hacking technique that most large networks overlook the nessessity to establish a defense, they are more worried about the more sophisticated attacks. Which I guess is why DoS has been so effective lately.

Just hire me based on raid experience. I'll catch up eventually.

Do we know what their cause is?

They say the engineers are working hard, what more is there?

I meant the Lizards' cause. Most of these groups, as I inderstand it, target these events to raise awareness for something else.
I don't see what the point is here.

"For the laughs" Just a bunch of nerd fricks.
Here is there interview notes from yesterday.
quote:
Lizard Squad spoke with WinBeta on Thursday via an encrypted connection, asking the group about its motivation and methodology. Here’s what it learned:
Taking down PlayStation Network and Xbox Live started “for the laughs,” but eventually the collective found a cause to rally behind — forcing these companies to upgrade the security on their networks.
Lizard Squad chose Christmas Eve and Christmas Day because it believed “it would anger and reach the largest amount of people.”
The gang considered taking down Nintendo’s online service, but did not, with no particular reason given.
When asked if the group would consider addressing other targets, Lizard Squad said it “could take down NASDAQ if they wanted to damage the economy,” but said that’s not its goal.
The easier game network to take down was Microsoft’s Xbox Live. Sony had apparently upgraded its security recently, which took “a bit of time to work around,” but Microsoft had “almost nothing” in terms of security.
Lizard Squad has not said when the attacks would stop: It said they would continue until the companies “learned from their security issues.”

Obviously these fricks did it for the attention. Seems like it may be done but XBOX has recovered a bit faster, although I think xbox has a limited service now.

They have no reason. They are doing it for attention and to piss people off.

Well I am sure I am behind everyone else. I have one pal I play online with. We are around level 28 . It just occurred to me to ask on here.

I've met a few assholes like this in my line of work. Know it all fricks who can't seem to leave well enough alone. They find these flaws in the network that are otherwise harmless unless some dick head decides to exploit the flaw "just for laughs"
Ego driven nerds who feed on "sticking to to the man" but in reality all they're doing is stopping thousands of little boys and girls who what to play with their christmas gifts.
