My buddy asked me to look for some at Specs last week before I headed down to NO. He said it was some rare shite. They had a spot for it but it was sold out. As I was looking for some beer at HEB last night I noticed they had it. I grabbed one just now when going to get something for lunch. Whats the story on it and for those who have had it what are the better beers out of the 12?

I am new to the good beer thing so dont kill me for not knowing.

It is 12 collaboration beers from Sierra Nevada and 12 highly regarded breweries across the country. I have not had them, but from looking at the list, the breweries decided to not play to their strengths so I hear it is a bunch of meh.

I can confirm it is a bunch of meh. Went through the whole pack last night (not by myself) and the only somewhat memorable ones were the Russian River Belgian blonde and the Ninkasi Double Latte stout. Some of the bottles were 3 months old. That didn't help.

Most are probably considered average. It's probably a good intro to craft beer and some interesting styles.

I've tried the India Pale Lager, the Imperial Dark ale, and the double latte stout. The stout was very delicious. I enjoyed the others, but have had better from the styles.

I admit I have not had this year's release, but I didn't seek it out because the beer list looked rather meh for the work to track a package down. They've put out much better Beer Camps in the past with much more interesting beers. Used to be fun to see what the beer camp people came up with. The beers usually played to SN's strengths, too.

I'd pick one up if I saw it lying around somewhere. Don't get me wrong. I just didn't feel like seeking it out.

My buddy still really wants it probably just because he cant get it. Contemplating on just letting him have this one, going to get the last one for him, or splitting this one.

A couple of bars here had all 12 on tap at the same time. The bartender recommended the Ninkasi Double Latte, and it was really good. Surprising, since Ninkasi would be ranked pretty low on the list of brewers that are participating.

I've since seen the Double Latte on tap by itself, so that beer must have raised some interest and the taprooms are ordering more of it.

Yeah. I was at Falling Rock Tap House in Denver when they had all of them on tap. The Double Latte was flying off the tap-wall.

I've gone through about 4 of them so far, none of them have been that great. Worth picking up if you come across it, but I wouldn't kill myself trying to find it.

Was very disappointed in the Russian River effort.

As someone mentioned earlier, the breweries didn't play to their strengths. I don't want a Belgian blonde ale from Russian River. I want a sour or an IPA (yes, I realize that a barrel aged sour is not going to be in a Beer Camp box).

Yeah Ave Pub had them all on tap last week. I ran through most and I thought the Latte was best. Highlight of the night was the cool taster they were giving out.
