I bought one from the discounted link that was posted on amazon. Tested it when it came in and it worked. Have not used since. Charged last night and it won't light once plugged in. I ordered two, and one battery will run both, but one battery pack will not provide power.

Any of y'all run into this issue?

sometimes the battery packs can just fail.
Can you verify the voltage on the battery pack?

Regardless, there will be a model number on the battery, search that in Ebay, Amazon or on Google. You should be able to get a new pack for cheap if so.
I would first though contact Amazon and see if they will swap the pack for free. If it came from them and not a third party they may.

Out of the 5 or 6 various CREE lights in cheap chinese housings with cheap chinese lithiums that I've bought, that's happened twice. Nature of the beast. Just need a new battery for the one that shite the bed. Cheap on ebay.

So is Cree a brand or a type?

CREE is an manufacturer of LEDs. American headquartered company. I'm assuming the lights are manufactured in china though. But they make good LEDs.

Most of these cheap really bright lights with CREE LEDs are just stuck in really cheaply manufactured chinese housings with chinese batteries by some no name manufacturer in china.

They can't be guaranteed to be durable or have tight tolerances or stand up to abuse. But they'll be as bright as lights that are 5x the cost. The batteries are really the biggest hit or miss part to me, but all the ones except the couple of batteries that were duds have done well for me.

Gotcha.

I know a guy with a $300 CREE headlight. It's pretty badass.

I'm pretty sure all the lighting for the surface drive is CREE LEDs. shite lights up the night fa sho. Single LED spotlight on the bow and you can see everything.

So Cree is a brand, but they just make the diodes.
