I'm having a lot of difficulty finding a QB whose value and floor to ceiling ratio is one that I really like this season. Most "experts" are basically saying that outside Brees/Manning/Rodgers, it's all pretty close. I would even leave out Stafford because some seem to have him as a level QB of his own. While I don't disagree entirely, I don't like vague statements like that. So make your case for or against these guys for a 10-team league:

Andrew Luck
RGIII
Cam Newton
Colin Kaepernick
Tom Brady
Matt Ryan
Nick Foles
Tony Romo
Russell Wilson
Jay Cutler

I think Brady looks much better this year. Cam definitely falls of a bit.

quote:

Andrew Luck

Love him. Absurd ceiling, runs in his scores, and I think his weapons are improved. I would rather take him a round or two lower over Stafford.

quote:

RGIII

Hard to know, but top 5 ceiling like his rookie year if he keeps running. I probably want a safer QB.

quote:

Cam Newton

I think the value is there this year, but I expect fairly similar fantasy numbers despite his receivers leaving town. I would buy because I think his ADP could be solid, but I think we could see Cam drafted all over the place. Depends on your league.

quote:

Colin Kaepernick

Could be nasty with a healthy Crabtree. I have never looked too deeply at Kaepernick, but I would guess he is a top 10 QB this year.

quote:

Tom Brady

I really do not know. Probably worth the risk, but he was legitimately average last season. Tom Brady may no longer be an elite QB - real or fantasy. I will probably go elsewhere unless he costs the price of shite like Cutler or Wilson.

quote:

Matt Ryan

All aboard. Ryan should be back to top seven as long as Julio and Roddy stay healthy. The value is there. Again, just see when he is available.

quote:

Nick Foles

Too risky for me. This dude could win you the league or be on waivers by week 6.

quote:

Tony Romo

Should be a back end of the top 10 type of guy. You will be safe and have strong combo of RB/WR, but you can almost never ride your QB to victory. Romo will do enough to not kill you.

quote:

Russell Wilson

Almost the same as Romo, but probably a little bit worse. I prefer Tony for their prices, but you better have all your other started drafted first before you think of going with Wilson.

quote:

Jay Cutler

lol. I will never get the hype. Everyone says this is Cutler's year, but it never is. Since 2011, Cutler has finished out of the top 20 QB's every season. In 2011, he finished at 15th. Why would you ever start a guy like that voluntarily?

My top 12 QB's that could really change:

Manning
Rodgers
Brees
Stafford
Luck
Ryan
Cam
Rivers
Romo
Kaepernick
Wilson
RGIII

..........Ryan....Cam...Rivers...Romo
2013...14th.....5th......4th......8th
2012...5th.......6th......21st....8th
2011...8th.......5th......9th......7th
2010...7th.......N/A.....4th......29th

Look at the numbers before you make your statements.

Cam is the best of all probably. He should finish like top 6. Good Rivers could be the best of all, but what if 2011-2012 Rivers shows up. Romo is overrated in fantasy. He will finish 8th as usual. Ryan will return to just above Romo in fantasy with Julio and Roddy back.

Some different sites on their QB's. Since some people just rely on ADP, then you can find value in some leagues. I bolded some of the better values and italicized the bad ones.

12 Manning, Peyton (DEN)
22 Brees, Drew (NOR)
29 Rodgers, Aaron (GNB)
44 Foles, Nick (PHI)
47 Stafford, Matthew (DET)
54 Ryan, Matt (ATL)
56 Luck, Andrew (IND)
64 Brady, Tom (NWE)
65 Dalton, Andy (CIN)
76 Rivers, Philip (SDG)
79 Romo, Tony (DAL)
81 Cutler, Jay (CHI)
87 Kaepernick, Colin (SFO)
88 Griffin III, Robert (WAS)

89 Roethlisberger, Ben (PIT)
90 Newton, Cam (CAR)
93 Wilson, Russell (SEA)

1 Peyton Manning, DEN $49
2 Aaron Rodgers, GB $43
3 Drew Brees, NO 6 $39
4 Matthew Stafford, DET $21
5 Cam Newton, CAR 12 $17
6 Andrew Luck, IND $14
7 Robert Griffin III, WAS $8
8 Nick Foles, PHI $8
9 Colin Kaepernick, SF $6
10 Russell Wilson, SEA $2
11 Matt Ryan, ATL $2
12 Tom Brady, NE $2
13 Tony Romo, DAL $1
14 Philip Rivers, SD $1

15 Jay Cutler, CHI $1
16 Ben Roethlisberger, PIT $1
17 Andy Dalton, CIN $1

Peyton Manning Den - QB
Drew Brees NO - QB
Aaron Rodgers GB - QB
Cam Newton Car - QB
Matthew Stafford Det - QB
Matt Ryan Atl - QB
Robert Griffin III Was - QB
Andrew Luck Ind - QB
Nick Foles Phi - QB

In that case, he is underrated in fantasy. I don't know if I have ever seen him taken as one of the top 8 off the board. He is usually drafted 10th-12th, so if he finishes 8th, he was a bargain.

I hate Cam Newton, but his value might be too good to pass up this year.

IMO, all of these, along with Rivers, have similar value. Therefore, the only correct answer is to pick RBs and WRs until everyone else thins the herd, then grab whomever is left. I like to wait until there are only 2 or 3 left from this group, then grab 2 of them quickly. I'd rather use a 9th/10th rounder and get a combo of Romo/Cutler than to use a 5th or 6th rounder to pick from the lot.

If you can't get one of the top 3, wait until you get some very good RB and WRs and take two of what's left at QB. No need to waste an early round pick on a QB not ranked in the top 3.

Luck - Probably about the same production or slightly better than last year. A healthy Reggie Wayne and a stronger focus on the passing game will help him a lot. Plus, he'll probably run a few in.

RGIII - Like him a lot. Tons of weapons around him. Despite the Redskins' train wreck last year compared to 2012, his numbers weren't terrible.

Cam - Step back from last year for sure. Not drafting him.

Kaepernick - Slightly better than last year. Closer to 2012 form if they let him run the ball more. Risky pick in my view, compared to some others.

Brady - Gronk will miss some time, regardless of how he starts the season. Without Gronk, Brady is a different QB. Not sure I like him much considering Edelman is about all he has to work with otherwise.

Ryan - I think he will produce at an adequate level if you wait on a QB until the 7th round or later. Not much of a run game in ATL so they will throw a lot to some pretty good receivers.

Foles - Love Foles but I would expect a slight dip in production simply due to the league having the offseason to prepare for both him and Chip Kelly's offense. Tons of weapons everywhere though and he should have a good year.

Romo - Same as always. See Matt Ryan. He will produce just fine for a middle-round pick.

Wilson - Don't like him much. Lynch will be a ground machine there as that defense is not going to let the 'Hawks fall behind a whole lot, I would suspect. Percy Harvin is made of glass and there's not much else for Wilson to use.

Cutler - I like Cutler over a lot of these guys, especially if he can keep the picks in check. Barring injury, I think you're probably looking at his best fantasy season coming up.

If I were to rank these guys, I'd go:

Luck
Foles
RGIII
Cutler
Romo
Ryan
Kaepernick
Brady
Newton
Wilson

ESPN and Yahoo still have him at #5, but RT Sports has absurd value on him. I agree if he is like the tenth QB taken.

I agree with this. It is typically my strategy since I'm not crazy about buying a top QB early in the draft and I have no desire to overpay for a mid-range QB in rounds 3-6. I'll wait until at least 7th round to take a QB and I'll try to get a decent backup a couple of rounds later.
