does the quality of all threads on TD degrade logarithmically after 4-5 pages?

i'm trying to find a thread that doesn't degrade into 4 or 5 posters arguing and hurling personal insults at each other regardless of the original topic.

The deterioration is more exponential than logarithmic.

It's pretty common regardless of subject. I don't think it happens with all of them. There are a few posters that do it in close to every thread that they are in though.

Pretty easy answer if you put just a tiny bit of thought into it.
In a "legit" type of thread, pretty much all the good answers/retorts/points have been brought up in 5 pages worth of posts. After that it's mostly tangents.
