NFL to look into tougher penalties for domestic violence

Goodell is a joke
What a joke. I guess he has to think to change things up after the public backlash following Ray Rice decision. As if he really cares. Dude continues to make himself look like an arse clown.
Test positive for drugs: 4 games
Almost kill your wife: 2 games
Possibly pay players for tough hits: 1 season

I guess he's not going to suspend Greg Hardy.

Oh yeah. Hardy just gets an added 10% bonus on each game check this year

Even though they don't really want to.

They're only looking into these lengthier suspensions due to the backlash they're received, not because it's the right thing to do.
Just crazy how they've set the precedent that testing positive for weed is worse than beating your wife and dragging her limp body around on camera.

That said, do any of y'all give a shite about this stuff? I don't. The NFL product is great. The only thing that had me worried or upset about the NFL is/are lame in game rule changes.

I do. Maybe I'm in the minority.
But will the Ray Rice issue keep me from watching football? Absolutely not.
Whether they like it or not, high profile athletes are role models. It sets a bad precedent when you're better off beating your wife within an inch of her life than you testing positive for weed.

Saw a good theory that this has been leaked to deflect the inevitable criticism of a year long ban for Josh Gordon for smoking something that is legal in multiple states

Players beating up their wives? Yeah kinda.
The NFL does the breast cancer awareness deal most likely just to get more female viewers but they don't care if you beat up women. Nice NFL nice.

Test positive for drugs: 4 games - No Lawsuit
Almost kill your wife: 2 games - No Lawsuit
Possibly pay players for tough hits: 1 season - Tremendous Lawsuit

quote:Honest question as I haven't followed the details that closely, was it confirmed that he beat or hit her? Is it not possible she was drunk and going all "Solange on Jay-Z" on him, and he pushes her back but in her stupor she falls in hits her head? Just wildly speculating, obviously lol.

I wish the NFL would get out of the policing business altogether, and only deal with football-related issues (steroids, cheating, etc.). Let LE deal with LE issues and the chips fall where they may.

They assaulted each other but one is a woman and the other is a big arse football player. He obviously knocked her arse out.

The punishment being considered is for making the league look bad rather than any direct effect on the field. If it had been some no name player the NFL wouldn't have even cared.

This, to a point. It gets really bad if you say something non-PC, like Michael Sams sucks or something. Then it's the full fury of the commish. Goodell makes the league look bad with his arbitrary PC-based punishments.

What Rice did rises to the level of what SP did, and he should get the same punishment.

They just need to tell these idiots to go play in Canada and see how they enjoy that paycheck.

You will never see a team do that to a starter. They will do that to a special teams person or someone down on the depth chart. But never a starter, and never a huge role player like that. NEVER.
