The 47-year-old victim died at the hospital, according to a NOPD news release. He had been stabbed in the side.

Police at the scene said the stabbing occurred about 8:40 p.m. when two men were fighting on the 800 block of Toulouse Street in front of the Old Opera House Annex convenience store. Police had originally reported the stabbing was in the 600 block of Bourbon.

nola's kind of a shite hole. discovred this when my siter moved down there and was helping here find a place. you actually have to see if the neighborhood/blocks are safe. never had to do this in my entire fricking life

I'm at home visiting family in Richmond (which was a shithole city up until about 2005), and I'm realizing that I don't miss New Orleans much at all, largely due to the persistent threat of violence and/or crime (and the yuppification taking over the area, which is for a different thread).
