College Football kicks off in 2 weeks...with Abilene Christian @ Georgia St??

ESPN is kicking off College Football on a Wednesday night this year.
I've always wondered why they didn't maximize their value/interest level by doing this. Interest is at an all time high when the season kicks off, so why air an SEC Match-up that will bring in ratings regardless of when it is played?
Smart move..and I'll be watching when I get back from my Adult Softball game

I'm assuming people who watch these games are single and/or watch it on a different TV than their SO.
No way mine would watch a game that shitty on a Wednesday night, knowing pretty soon she'll be watching football Thursday-Sunday
Also why the hell would I want to see it anyway?

This. Put a lower tier SEC team vs a not-terrible out of conference opponent and I would watch.

I saw something on this game. It is being played on Wednesday because of the other high profile games that weekend in ATL. Boise plays Thursday and then the Alabama/WVU game on Saturday. I think they could have played on Friday but they wanted enough turnaround time between the BSU game and Saturday to prep the field for the Chick fil a game. NCAA granted them some sort of exemption to start a day earlier.

Yeah, I thought this was the first game of the season. The Southland Conference has been posting about it online a bunch. Should be a good game.
