I need help understanding why alot of players are doing this now.

From what I've found, there isn't near as big of a gap in the Top scoring WR to the 10th or 20th or 30th. There is a much bigger gap at QB, RB, and TE.

So why is this so popular now?

Not sure it's very popular unless you take Megatron and Deymarious back to back.

I did this once years ago with Andre Johnson and Roddy White and I hated my team.

in PPR, its about value if you're picking late.

If you're picking 9-12 or so...

say Charles, McCoy, Peterson, Forte, Lacy and Marshawn are gone.

Who do you take? Arian Foster? Doug Martin? Demarco Murray?

or sure things, Dez Bryant, DT88, AJ Green, Brandon Marshall?

To me it's always about value. I dont care what round it is.

This strategy is not for the faint of heart.

Only if you can grab 2 of the top 3, maybe 4.

Your first 2 picks are critical to nail. If that means taking a guy like Megatron then getting a guy like Dez, DT88, Green, Marshall, or Julio, you do it IMO. I trust all those guys I mentioned above more than a guy like Demarco Murray.

I see the trust factor, but based on last year, you can get almost that much production from guys in the 10-20 range.

Probably Graham, and one of these WRs or Rodgers

is this any different than passing on a RB?

I'd take Julio and Marshall back to back.

It is all about managing risk. First round RB's bust/get injured at a much higher rate than first round WR's. So the theory is in PPR WR's value is elevated so grab two top 10 WR's when everyone is taking RB's then scoop up pass catching backs later.

I have won leagues like this in the past, but people go WR much earlier now so the value is not there as much. This is exacerbated this year because someone wrote an article about this called the zero RB theory and now people are using it even with early draft slots.

I went this route this year. Drafted 6th and all 5 main RBs were gone and so was Peyton. So I went Megatron followed by Dez. Then grabbed Murray and Bush in next 2.

10 man PPR league

**Cliche alert**... you can't win the league in the 1st round but you can lose it.

People are sick of getting burnt by 1st round RB busts. So after the top 5RBs are gone they opt for 2 of the top 6 "too good to fail" WRs.

Early picks should be more about minimizing risk. Safer higher floor guys, as opposed to high ceilings. What til middle to late rounds to swing for the fences for high upside guys.

I agree, only if you can grab two of the top 4-5. It's not just about who you get, but that others can't use them against you. Get the best value, IMO.
