I ask because I was discussing with some people at the office that I was considering breeding my dog and a lady started berating me for considering doing this. According to her, I should be ashamed of wanting to shire my dog for money when there are so many unwanted animals in shelters needing homes.

I tried to avoid getting in to it much since we were at work, but a couple of the women in the office generally agreed with her and told me to reconsider and made it out like I was an evil bastard for wanting to do this.

What. The. frick.

I prefer buying a dog from a breeder. I don't do breed-specific shelters. I don't adopt pound puppies. It's just preference.

Does she have children? Does she plan on having children? Will she only adopt them?

You're about to get railed. People have bizarrely strong feelings on this.

Depends what kind of dog you have.

If its just a random pet then I would sort of agree with them but if it is a pure breed hunting dog or something then definitely breed it

instantly tell this womkan to go frick herself.

dogs are a 10-15 year commitment. you might as well get what you want instead of the best of what is available.

more power to you if you rescue, i dont care.

People will continue to buy full breed dogs. People will continue to dispose of non full breed dogs. Use your own judgement but I'd be cool with it.

That being said, I will be getting a pound puppy one day and likely never buying a full breed unless I need a hunting dog.

I didn't bring up the fact that I also have a rescue-dog (as my wife calls her). But why should it matter if I am able to make some cash because I have another dog that is high value?

don't really care

I think it is absurd to spend thousands of dollars on a dog, but why would I care?

Some people are rescue nuts.

As long as you do it legit and keep good care of your animals, I have no issue with it.

Dogs are one of our first science experiment. It's far better to get what you want out of a dog that you are far more likely to keep than one you aren't sure if you want.

Yeah, I'm not exactly trying to run a mill. Just figured I could make a little extra cash on the side.

I am guessing you went through a breed specific rescue. They aren't like shelters that can be funded through a lot of different means, these people put out a lot of their own money for vets/food/etc to get these dogs in far better condition than they came into the rescue. The fee helps them some, but not even close to breaking even. The fee is also a way to weed out some people they don't want applying.

As long as we're doing stupid comparisons, should black people only breed with other black people? And are you comparing children to dogs?
