Thanks, moronic low info Republican voters in Tennessee for enabling this moron.
This RINO lied and ran ads saying he opposed amnesty up until last Thursday's election, it hasn't even been 5 days and now he is back on the pro-amnesty bandwagon.
Shameful

This is why we need term limits, we can't trust voters to actually hold these pols accountable. Because they get entrenched in D.C. and run bullshite, false campaign ads touting themselves as ultra super hyper no compromise conservatives, and there aren't enough people paying attention to know its bullshite.

“I don’t know how it will affect our politics in the near term,” Alexander told Politico of a comprehensive immigration bill. “I think it’s embarrassing for us not to deal with the problem, and I think we should do it in the next two years.”
And though Alexander claimed that he won the primary because he did not run away from his record, he aired a deceptive ad in the final week of the campaign that claimed he “voted to end amnesty.”

So politicians lie to get votes?
Posted on 8/12/14 at 8:26 am to goldennugget
This is also why people shouldn't blindly vote party lines.

I voted for Carr with the hope that a closer primary would scare Lamar a bit. I can't stand him.
While I agree with you in a general sense.....this was a primary. You have to choose party so they can setup your ballot.
Whatever party will certainly dominate the general election is the primary ballot I select.

This is why we need to repeal the 17th Amendment.
A Senator beholden to the government of his state, rather than 50% + 1 of the lazy fricks that get out and vote, would be well aware of the perils of saddling his state "masters" with the costs (fiscal and social) of the illegal invasion.

This is why our Founders loathed Democracy; we end up with idiots and mob rule. Sometimes, I can clearly see why a 'Robin Williams' would chose to split this scene; if one indulged in seeing one side of reality.
Mother Nature will handle this, if the liars temporarily prevail.

Lamar knows politics/voters.
I doubt half his supporters didn't recognize the name of his opponents.
They only know that Gov Haslem gave money to UT. Haslem supported Alexander therefore... Vote for Alexander.

So how do you know who to vote for? Unless, you know, you just vote across party lines without understanding the platform.

NO WE DON'T!!!!! We need to do our homework and elect those that want to work for us. If they don't do what they said, DON'T REELECT them!!!! If the voters need terms limits because they're STUPID, then all a politician needs to do is put on a Halloween mask & change their name and they'll get elected. Don't change a perfect system just because voters are stupid.

Maybe there's some broader context to bring to bear here, but I don't think we're at point where we consider "reform" synonomous with a general amnesty.

Uh, yeah.
And it actually bothers some of us. Can you imagine that?

So Twitchy got the quote from Beitbart, which got it from Politico. Neither Twitchy nor Breitbart bothered to include the specific question which was asked that brought forth that quote, even though both the Twitchy reporter and the Breitbart reporter knew the quote was a response to a specific question, as opposed to an unsolicited general statement regarding immigration or amnesty.
Your quote as borrowed from Twitchy and Breitbart:
The quote as it appeared in the original story from Politico:
"“I don’t know how it will affect our politics in the near term,’ Alexander said when asked whether blocking an immigration bill would hurt GOP chances of taking back the White House in 2016. “I think it’s embarrassing for us not to deal with the problem, and I think we should do it in the next two years.”
Alexander's words are clearly the exact same in all 3 stories.
So why did Breitbart, and then Twitchy, intentionally leave out the question he was answering, i.e., whether the House blocking the Senate bill would negatively affect the Republican chances in the 2016 election? Simple. It sounds far more inflammatory to the readers of those two sites to define "it" as the bill itself, rather than "it" being the House blocking a vote on the bill.
I support Boehner's refusal to bring the Senate bill to the House floor, because every Dem would vote for it and it's very possible that 20 Republicans from blue states would go along with it to keep their seats.
I do NOT agree with Alexander's position on immigration reform and I particularly disapprove of his Aye vote on S. 744 last year. This post is not about either Alexander or immigration.
It's about how many right-wing blogs are as deceptive as many left-wing blogs and a lot of MSM -affiliated blogs. They all have an agenda, and carefully edit to support that agenda. I had to go the source document, twice-removed, to get to the context of the statement, and to the realization that Alexander never even came close to using the word "amnesty" in the subject interview, even though Twitchy, Breitbart and the OP all featured the word in their subject title, knowing it would touch a nerve.
Most bloggers suck as much at actual "journalism" as most journalists do.

Lamar had WAY more money than Carr.
I voted for Carr, but I talked to many other about who they were voting for in this race, many of them professionals, and they didn't know anything about Carr.
