i don't think any identifying characteristic has been publicly stated about the officer
yesterday in the short bit i watched, CNN was already paving the way for the reaction by asking black commentators what would happen to reactions if the officer was black, allowing the commentators to offer up the talking points. seemed fishy
last night on the OT, somebody who claims to be related to LEO in the area said that they have been notified who the officer is, and he's black. could be BS, could be true. i think we find out today the ID of the officer

We already know the answer to this. The life of a black person only has value when it is ended by a white person. Otherwise, we would see a national outrage regarding the overwhelming number of black deaths which are being perpetrated by other blacks.
