I'm typically pretty adamantly anti-cop in these cases and the phrasing by the police department still pisses me off ("stared as though the dog acquired a target"? why the hell are PDs so melodramatic in their descriptions of incidents?), but it sounds like for once the shooting was justified. Shame that killing it couldn't be avoided but I can't begrudge a man legitimately defending himself and not escalating the situation.

Pretty sure he just meant that it won't get as much attention as a thread that intentionally drags the name of the police through the dirt.
