In terms of my taste, and artists I follow, I haven't been blown away yet in 2014, but I'm stoked about Jeff Tweedy's and Ryan Adam's new releases.

Band of Skulls - Himalayan
Drive-by Truckers - English Oceans
Hard Working Americans - Hard Working Americans

Is there any new rock albums now that doesn't sound so new wave? I feel like the new bands are going away from true alt rock.

Well I'm 90s grunge and alt type but the newer types are:

Qotsa, the wombats, jack white, Manchester orch. I like the more hard rock sound.

It is good, but I think it sounds new wavish. I would recommend checking out The Men for more of a 'rock' sound.
