Some group or artist that put out an incredible album but vanished off the face of the earth afterward.

I'll start with one of my favorites...this album has almost no bad tracks..in particular I like the Cure cover, the Smith's cover and Vulcan. It really flows from song to song.

I bet none of you have heard of this album before..give it a chance..let it play start to finish. (NSFW)

Without further ado, for your Monday morning sonic pleasure I present:

Snake River Conspiracy

I can go with that. they had a ton of singles spring off that record. one of the classic 90's albums that is good all the way through ala blue album, third eye blind, and nevermind.

Yep. They had a few good songs in subsequent albums, but the albums themselves were pretty meh. Throwing Copper is a quintessential 90's album. It was actually the first album I ever bought on CD, along with Better Than Ezra - Deluxe.

Well, unfortunately this band disappeared because the lead singer died in a bus accident before the album was released.. but I really really loved Example by For Squirrels

Would Alanis Morissette count?

I know jagged little pill was not her first album...but it doesn't seem like she did much before or after.

Good call. Their follow up album had a song or two that I thought was ok, but it didn't come near to living up to Copper.

I bet you know Steve Taylor. I loved Joel's version of All Tomorrow's Parties.
