Was trying to pick between these two. Hoping there may be more options or advice on them.
Main use will be running video and using the HDMI to broadcast onto the TV. So streaming is the priority. general computer needs as well but NO gaming.
$379 Toshiba C55-B5200
Key laptop features: 15.6" HD display; 4th Gen Intel® Core™ i3 processor; 6GB memory; 750GB hard drive; Windows 8
best buy site
$449 HP 15-g067cl
15.6" HD BrightView LED-backlit touchscreen
AMD Quad-Core A8-6410 APU
750GB 5400RPM hard drive
8GB DDR3L SDRAM (1 DIMM)

If it's between these two, the second one is a better bang for buck. It's $70 more for 33% more RAM, a superior iGPU, and touch screen functionality.

Nothing significantly different/better enough to justify steering you away from the two models you already posted. And while you do get a little more for your dollar with that HP, it doesn't make the Toshiba a bad buy at all. Honestly, you'd do just fine with either one for your intended purpose.

Avoid HP. Quality is cheap. I went that route once, ignored casty, and regretted it a year later. Toshiba, Acer, or Asus

Ignore this. Every company has a range of low-end to high-end, and build quality is scaled accordingly. Toshiba, Acer, Dell, Apple, Sony, Lenovo... all their laptops are built by Quanta with Foxconn motherboards. Asus laptops are built by Pegatron with Pegatron and Foxconn internals.

I've had my HP for about a year and had no trouble.
Probably just a bad unit.

Ultrabook or ZBook..?
ETA: I am just wondering what some people consider "high end" HP..We use both at work, and they're both work horses in their own way

I recently had a bad experience with Toshiba not honoring their warranty.
It was on a one of their cheaper laptops like in the op.
I will never buy another one of their products.
